Shangri La Paris-opening date?

Is the hotel still due to open in September 2010?
Also, what sort of fitness center will they have?

That's an interesting choice of words (presumably from a press release) - they don't say the terrace will actually have a view of said Tower

Agree that Paris will be very interesting soon.

No, FS pool is in the basement, so no windows, but a lovely trompe l'oeil painting that makes you feel like you're outside.

I gather that the Shangri-La boast of 'closest terrace to Eiffel Tower' was aimed at FS, who say that panoramic views which include the Eiffel Tower are much more important than closeness, and they could be right, as who wants to walk out onto a terrace and be up close and personal with several tons of grey steel? Should be interesting to check it out once it opens, though. Lots of disinformation going on right now in Paris....

This hotel has been kept under very close wraps. It's only a few months until its grand opening and we still only have a handful of old concept pictures from 2-3 years ago.

I think dining will be the big problem with Shangri La Paris. IMHO they don't provide a good restaurant in Bangkok, what chance have they in Paris?

i would imagine the chinese restaurant would be something to look forward to , - Petrus in hong kong is well regarded . - dont think bangkok shangri la is a benchmark for the group so i wouldnt use that as a gauge

In Paris I don't think the brand or name of the restaurant will matter as much as who the chef is.

Re-development of the hotel is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2009, following vacant possession of the building with completion expected by the end of the first quarter of 2012.

Shangri-La Tokyo`s restaurants are both outstanding. I see no reason why SL paris could not have good food with the right chef.

New opening date..

.. new date is first weekend of decemeber.

I'm in Paris by that time

I tried to contact them -> emailadress given on their webpage (still no pics, they are not ready, of course) - NO RESPONSE.

In the French newspapers specialized on 'hotelerie', they are still surching for stuffmembers

Has anybody booked yet?? There seems to be a pre-opening team...(we already had some kind of discussion here about this..)

Of course, for the first night, I would not be able to get a room, but for the consecutive nights??
