Changes at Miles & More

Lufthansa verändert Miles & More

FVW 27. 6.2002.

Destinations covered by this special in North America are MIA, PHL and IAH, and miles are 50K for Y and 75K for C-class; no discount for F. But if they do not add additional seats, nobody will book these as there are currently near to no seats available, at least in Y to MIA.

What the hell does that mean (it's not that it's German -- I can speak German).

It means what it says - if you would loose your status because you are on maternity leave and therefore do not fly that often, you get a special one year extension. Seems a nice touch to me actually.

OK I found it on the German website.
http://cms.lufthansa.com/de/dlh/de/p...459925,00.html

This really *is* the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard... sounds like something the socialist German government would come up with, but not a modern company like LH... why don't they introduce similar terms that would allow people to maintain their status if they lose their job or get sick...

Just my 2 cents.

Not sure why you complain about that...it's something in favour of the respective members and a nice touch IMHO. I really would rather praise LH for doing so, and I think it will open the door for negotiations in those other cases you have mentioned...

About a month ago, every time I try to pull up the North America LH award chart on the web site, it seems to give me the ex-Germany mileage requirements, e.g., 140,000 miles for a free first class ticket between North America and Germany, instead of the prior 100,000.

http://cms.lufthansa.com/us/fly/en/m...279290,00.html

I sure hope this is a mistake....

It definetly is a mistake. I pulled up the award-chart about two weeks ago from http://www.lufthansa-usa.com and it clearly reflected the lower mileage requirements. Plus I ticketed a flight last week and was charged 150K miles for the two F-class tickets departing in the US.

as you are based in germany it makes me wonder how you manage to get the miles rate
for usa residents.
have you been registered in the states or is there any "loophole"?

I'm registered with Miles&More under my US-adress. So allthough doing all the stuff with the German service-team they gladly applied the US-rates in terms of miles deducted.

This discount, however, only applies to awards STARTING in the USA, not to awards starting in Germany even if you are a US-based member of Miles&More!

There are serious talks that the numbers of status miles required for M&M members with an Austrian address will be moved up to 50,000 for Frequent Travellers (now: 35.000 status miles) and 150.000 for Senators (now: 100.000 status miles). This would be the same pre-requisite as for members with an address in Germany.
