Is this a good fare? £3500 RT UK-US

Hey everyone, sorry to bother, but I'm strongly considering booking the following a flight from London to North Carolina return in First (business for LON-FRA flights) for ~3500 GBP. Is this a good deal? Looks like a steal to me!

November 3rd
LH 927 LCY 0820-1045 FRA (J)
LH 418 FRA 1250-1645 IAD (F)
LH7580 IAD 2205-2325 FAY (Y)

November 9th
UA4944 FAY 1005-1125 IAD (Y)
LH419 IAD 1815-0750 (+1) FRA (F)
LH928 FRA 0905-0930 LCY (J)

IMHO it is not competitve. For this amount you can fly from a nearby european cities to the west coast in F class ex. LAX or SFO.

Thanks for the advice. I was playing with other European cities and couldn't get it any lower. For example, WAW, OSLO, were only 100 gbp cheaper...

Seems like a pretty high fare to me, but then I don't spend cash on F tickets.

You can reduce the price, and drop an extra sector by booking the flights separately:
United £3095 in F
3 Nov LHR-IAD 1200-1630
11 Nov IAD-LHR 2205-1015

United £211 in Y (+ bags charges?)
3 Nov IAD-FAY 2205-2325
11 Nov FAY-IAD 1005-1125

Also, a note for future postings, just copying and pasting the flight info like that is quite lazy - it's actually very hard (especially without spacing) to work out what flights you have actually found, given all the extraneous info. Help us help you!

could easily be shown as "LH 927 LCY 0820-1045 FRA (J)" or similar.

For LH F it's a good fare. I wouldn't do the separate tickets, as you're not protected in case of delays and the savings in this case aren't significant.

Thanks for that advice! Sorry about the poorly pasted flight info.

Also on the fare savings, unfortunately - at least when I looked at it - the flights were operated by United which is to my mind inferior to the LH F product.

The layovers in both itineraries are plenty long enough to risk 2 separate tickets. Depends if the OP is looking for relative value for money. Saves ~£200.

I think UK to US on LH F for £3,500 RT is a good price without involving any positioning flight and since ex-OSL is no longer competitive. It's actually about the same as (or even less than) Business fare on the same dates and may not last very long.

Thanks for the advice. I noticed when I looked up LH J fares they were the same price or even slightly more (cheapest J Fare) than first.

I think it's a good price and a steal - especially given exchange rate.

I have seen cheaper F fares on LX recently (only a few pounds more than Business fare) around £1,700 RT to the East Coast but they didn't seem to have lasted long.

Per advice that was offered.
November 3rd
LH 927 LCY 0820-1045 FRA (J)
LH 418 FRA 1250-1645 IAD (F)
LH7580 IAD 2205-2325 FAY (Y)

November 9th
UA4944 FAY 1005-1125 IAD (Y)
LH419 IAD 1815-0750 (+1) FRA (F)
LH928 FRA 0905-0930 LCY (J)

Need to fly home to vote in U.S. Election. I know people in DC so will be nice to see folks during long layovers.

£1,700 RT to the East Coast! That is insanely low. On Swiss? wow.

Well now that makes me wonder if I should wait. If the price differential is 3500 to 1883 or 1700, that is a substantial savings. Travel is for early november...to wait or not to wait?

I might have booked it if it were my qualifying year but I had two eVouchers I wanted to burn so settled for a return in P for £1,400 with the return leg upgraded to F.
