Can I cash casino chips at the airport?
Sorry if this has already been asked in this thread.. couldn't find a similar question (?)... but does anyone know if I can cash vegas casino chips (all from the new strip - Mirage, Bally's, Harrah's, Venetian, Imperial Palace) at LAS (yes, McCarran)? I'm doing an MR soon and may decide to just stay and wait inside LAS for my return trip... I'll be bringing some chips from several hotels that I failed to cash last time I was there. TIA! - yyzn.

Usually, chips can ONLY be cashed in at the respective casino on the chip itself.
I do not know of any "clearinghouse" for chip redemption... sure there might be some underground business buying at a discount...

Thanks for replies. I should've clarified that I asked this question also because I know that many of the casinos on the strip that are owned by the same operators allow for chip cashing/playing at the sister properties... so I went out on a limb thinking that there might be a slight chance that LAS and the casinos may have some special agreement... but I guess not!
Ok, I guess I'll just take a shuttle to the strip, play a bit and then cash out.
(btw, mods - I'm not sure how I managed to start this new thread! my intention was to reuse the general las vegas airport questions thread... so feel free to do what you want with this thread!)

"Officially" chips from a given casino can only be cashed at that property. All casinos (that I've visited) have a sign quoting some Federal Law. The signs also state that you can't use personal checks for "gambling purposes", yet most casinos DO cash personal checks--there is probably some loophole that lets them do it.

If the chips were accepted anywhere other than on the property of the casino then they would be a form of money and the treasury department would be very unhappy indeed.
From a practical standpoint there is a fair amount of unofficial acceptance of chips by those who frequently deal with casino patrons but this is always unofficial.
The only way there could be something at the airport is if the various casinos opened booths there for the purpose.
