lan.com "We cannot assign you that seat, please contact the Call Center".
This was sandwiched by "I can not call because I'm at sea with no phone service"

Also from the Call Center, "I can't do that..."
Me "Let me talk to a supervisor"
Call Center "I can't get to a supervisor, there are none available"
Click...

Me: "...but my flight is in three weeks... do you allow checking in that early?"......

"sir check in at the kiosk... yes try it... how can you say it does not work?...please sir go". Another person complains about the same problem. Now we all go to the kiosk "uh oh you surely have a passport problem, ok then please go to the counters to check in..."
At the counter: "oh the boarding pass for QF is wrong, they do not have Premium Economy, we only do... I cannot reserve your seat... it shows a middle seat, 37J does not exist. Check upon arrival in SCL..."
at SCL airport "your boarding pass has which problem? who said so?"

I recently had calls with LAN (and went into one of the SCL ticket offices too) where they told me "we can't give you seat assignments on our flight because you booked it through American."

At the pre-checkin bag check at PIU: They pulled a bottle of liquor from my checked bag.

Sir, this is not allowed.
Me: Well... (me too dumbfounded to speak).
You can put it in your carry on. (Note there are no liquid prohibitions for Peru domestic flights.)
Me: So I can't have it in my checked bag, but I can have it in my carry on, is that right?
Yes.
Me: Why is that?
Because it can explode.
Me: And it can't explode in the cabin... can you please show me this regulation in print?
It depends on the alcohol content.
Me: So.. what is the alcohol content regulations, can you show me that in print too?
Can you write your name here.
Me: Why? Only my name not my email address where you can send me the info?
And your passport number.
Me: (Ah, I get it, try to intimidate me) You will have to show me the regulation that states I need to show my passport number to get a reply to a simple question.
You have to go to the LAN desk with your questions.
Me: Thanks

They searched for the regs for me at LAN desk, while repeating liquor bottle is allowed in my carry on but not my checked luggage. I was being a bit resistant, not because I am, I am, but also I was doing PIU-LIM-MIA and I would have to pick up my bag in LIM just to do the bottle change to checked bag, I'd rather it gets tagged and goes straight through.

They found the reg. Table 2.3.A which states liquor bottle is allowed both in checked bag and in carry on.

But interestingly, it limits alcohol content between 24% to 70%. Odd.

Just go to LAN.com and use your AA PRN; LAN will pull up you reservation and will also show their own PRN for your reservation which is good to have in case you run into problems.

That is nothing new. 151 proof (75.5%) rum has always (at least in my traveling lifetime) been prohibited due to extreme flammability.

Not sure, staff turnover or just large (part time) staff complement means I hardly recognize them!

It is usually beer or wine which probably has a different reg.

Exec Plat going to the preferred line in AEP for flight to BRC. A lan agent comes running down "where are you flying? this is only Santiago flights", but "I am OW Emerald..." cuts me with "Santiago flights" and points to a long line. Turns around and walks away.

While in the line, I notice there is the oversize luggage (Bariloche is one of the ski resorts in Argentina) with a very short line, and 4 people who seemed to know him are shown the line.

This is because there are no premium class flights domestically.
