Yeah, I thought about that, so I went beyond just looking at the grid to step 3, just in case, but no change. The economy fares did display at $499 (+taxes/fees) in the grid from the start.

Anyway, will wait for some sort of Cyber Monday deals here -- not in any rush to book anything new yet anyway.

Small print said "Fly between Dec 8-Jan 31", but when you factored in all the exceptions, it left 19 days you could actually fly. Even so, I did a wide search across the so-called eligible period, and found the promo fares available on precisely zero days. Nice promo, LAN!
Sounds pretty much BAU for LAN sales. Not to say you /can't/ get spanking good deals but they're as rare as hens teeth.

Well, I dunno. A 20%-40% reduction is OK but what I like is that, even though they drop the kms only a little on awards travel, they wide open the availability.

The USA and Ecuador sites have the sale on December 1.

Add: Well, I did OK, picked up over 1/2 dozen tix. LIM-Ayacucho ai rt for $47 is pretty sweet, almost a 50% reduction.

What I did notice is a new format for terms and conditions. It had all the restrictions of normal Base X fare but not the resident of Peru restriction (the web page grid still does if you hover over fare types but not in the actual terms and conditions).

Interestingly some of those flights ex-BOG are only bookable as awards at LAN.com... LAN logic keeps surprising...

Edit: Wow, I am struggling to get the time right on this one, sorry. Now says starts at 5 am Monday. Best to just ignore me and go straight to

cyberlunes is upon is. And /some/ prices, both award and $$, are a bit BELOW the headline rate.

Found that on BOGCUN (award) and BOGCLO ($$).

Good fishing.

No 'official' Cyber Monday deals for us LAN customers based out of MEX, but they have just launched some 2x1 business promos which are pretty good deals:

2x ... LIM $1,699 / GIG $2,799 / MVD $2,799 / EZE $2,799 / SCL 2,999 / GRU $2,999
http://www.lan.com/es_mx/sitio_perso...iciembre/lima/

For travel in December and January. Requires a 7-day stay.

FYI ... I just made a sample booking, as a SINGLE passenger. And guess what? It seems willing to give me SCL for $1,464 ai. So, sometimes the buggy LAN.com CAN work in our favor!

LAN Perú km sale 50% Dec 1-5 2014

LAN Perú km sale 50% Dec 1-5 2014

The annual kms sale for Perú accounts from Dec 1-5, but good ole LAN seems to have posted notice on Dec 5? Oh well. The interesting thing is they seem to have changed from an annual purchase limit of 100000 to 200000. Nice trend.

Brief window for some nice SCL deals ex-MEX --
MEX-SCL $499 econ, $1,299 biz.
Purchase by Jan 18.
Econ: Must complete travel by Mar 18.
Biz: Must complete travel by Feb 28.

Not ideal if just looking to accumulate miles/km (7-day stay req'd), but the biz ticket will earn 20,136 km (via LIM) or 19,767 km (non-stop). With the drop to 50% earning on the lowest econ fares, these biz fares (at 150%) are the better deal.

I agree that we all need to be looking at 150% fares from now on. But if we consider 6 cpm to be the upper limit for "cheap" economy (100%) fares we should be looking for 150% fares cheaper than 9 cpm (5.6 cpkm) to maintain parity.

This one's about 6.5 cpkm so I consider it just a tad expensive in cheap fare terms. If I'm going have to pay over the odds for LAN biz for qualification I'd rather pick routes that are just cheaper but might not accumulate too many miles and pick up the distance on AA when possible.

BOG-MIA for a target price of $650, LIM-SCL for $400, and SCL-EZE for $500 all look to me like candidates. There's also MIA-PUJ but I'd rather disembowel myself with a rusty knife than be forced to spend 7 days in DR.

It's been tough to find any biz deals ex-MEX since last year. LAN did have MEX-SCL-IPC on for ~$1,300 for some time (and I did take advantage of that), but that has been gone since last May. And MEX-SCL, which throughout 2013 and into 2014 was available for ~$2,000, was then jacked up in the middle of 2014 to an astonishing $4,000+. So seeing them put that fare down to $1,299 is a welcome change! (They also occasionally offer a similar biz fare to EZE.)
