Crew rest area for take off ?
Just flown back on a KL777-300 and witnessed the following.
Once the doors were closed, and during an air traffic "pause", 2 tall blond (think off duty cabin crew) ladies were escorted to the front galley.
The 1st officer appeared from the flight deck, and securely closed the curtain to WBC.
20 seconds later, the girls were gone, and the curtain re-opened before the 1st officer returned to his desk.
I can only assume one of 2 things. The first, is that the girls spent taxi / take off and the rest of the flight up in the crew rest bunks, OR the 1st officer is in the wrong career, and should be performing "I will now make the lady disappear before your very eyes" tricks on stage.
Is it approved, a company SOP or even legal to be strapped into a bunk for take off ? I would have thought at a "high risk" part of the flight, being up there would slow down at the very least your escape ?

Well I know on the 787 they can be used, however the door to the crew rest area needs to be open during take off and landing if its seat is being used.

Actually, all of the 777s have a forward crew rest, none of them have three bunks, and they all are certified for occupancy during takeoff and landing. Not that it's any of your business, though.

Huh
We'll pardon us for asking a question ! If I had wanted to then I would take it up with the FO, I was just intrigued by his obvious desire to cover his actions.

I've noticed that they close a curtain before entering the cockpit with refreshments. I'm not sure if that's because of lights on night fights or to stop nosy people seeing whats happening.
