OT: Lelystad expansion plan gets approval
There were reports in this weekend's NRC that the official announcement of approval of the Schiphol Group's plans for the expansion of Lelystad airport will be made as early as tomorrow.
The plan is to move "holiday" and "budget" flights to Lelystad. In 2020, the number of aircraft movements at Schiphol will be capped at 500,000 annually, with the surplus (reckoned to be 70,000) sent off to Eindhoven and Lelystad.
It remains to be seen how the low-cost carriers will be convinced to move to Lelystad.

That would be one way...but could just encourage them to stop serving the Randstad altogether.
Easyjet has already baulked at the lack of ground connectivity at Lelystad, even according to the projected plans for when it is fully functional.
And it will have severely curtailed nighttime hours - which is strange for a "holiday" airport.
The Low-Cost pier at Schiphol seems far more attractive to all - travellers and airlines!
