Wiki FAQ
The
JetBlue/Trueblue FAQ is now in Wiki form, meaning that you can add your own material and correct mistakes to your heart's content. Just remember to keep postings factual.
You may find that you need to create an account using the link at the upper right of the Wiki page before you are able to edit the Wiki. You may use the same handle and password that you use for FlyerTalk if you like.
How to get News Flashes
This thread is locked. The moderator(s) will post here when there is a schedule extension or an important news flash such as a new TrueBlue promotions or any unusual JetBlue sales (if you are aware of one that's not posted, PM one of the moderators so it can be posted).
To be notified by email when one of these items is posted, click on Thread Tools in the blue bar above. Select "Subscribe to this Thread" from the pull-down menu and click. Select "Instant notification by Email" and "Add Subscription".
If you need to establish or change your email address for Flyertalk, select "MyFlyerTalk" at the left of the blue bar, then "Edit Email & Password".
That's it. You will now be automatically notified of any time-critical JetBlue/TrueBlue news.
Posting Guidelines
FT exists for the benefit of its members, and most members reading a particular airline forum are enthusiastic or at least frequent users of that airline. How do we add value to their experience? By providing new information, new perspectives, and new opportunities. How do we subtract value from their experience? By starting or participating in pointless arguments that add no insight. The need of the few to vent anger does not outweigh the wish of the many to have a pleasant and informative forum.
Being a good FTer means trying to add value with every post. None of us measure up to this ideal, but we can try. This is not to say that the airline deserves a free pass on its mistakes. Far from it. When an airline disappoints members,
everyone has the right to comment as long as its in a product, constructive, and respectful post.
So what about cheerleading? Is that not equally damaging? In a word, no. It might not seem fair, but cheerleading is not offensive to the large majority of FT members using a given forum. If the cheerleaders find it necessary to browbeat anyone who posts any criticism of the airline, then they become a problem for the moderator to deal with, but that's quite rare.
People who bash for bashing sake are not welcome in the JetBlue forum. I know there are other places like the TSA forum where the bashing seems a little more prevelant but things will be monitored more carefully here. Reckless bashing won't be finding a home here.
Please try to make each post add value. Passion and intensity can be a boon to the forum if you take care to channel them constructively. Doing it this way is more effective that bashing or posting content that will inflame emotions.
If you perceive a troll post, use the RBP (Report Bad Post) button. I'll handle it. That's my job. If you try to scold the poster in public, you add to the forum pollution rather than reducing it. I am very accommodating of RBP's since so few people use them as a first rather than last resort.
Reporting bad and inappropriate posts and other violations
If at any time, you find a post that is offensive, inappropriate, or malicious, please hit the red and white triangle, known as the RBP (Report Bad Post) button, in lower left hand corner of the post in question. This can be also done for duplicate posts and posts that violates the
rules and guidelines of FlyerTalk. Once you hit the button and provide a brief reason why you hit the RBP button, the moderators will be notified of the post. We will handle the situation and take any necessary actions to correct the situation.
Moderated Posts
If a user with a minimal amount of posts starts or participates in thread in which a URL and/or SPAM keywords are included in the post, the post will require a moderator's approval. This mechanism is in place to prevent SPAM. How do you know if your post requires approval? Well, there will be a pop-up that will warn you of it. Please do not repeat the same post more than once due to the fact that each post (with the URL(s)/ SPAM keywords) will require approval.
Customizing FT
Did you know that you can restructure FT yourself? It's a feature called MyFlyerTalk, located near the upper left of your screen.
You can subscribe to forums to see what the latest (and perhaps hottest) thread is in any forums you like. You can also auto-subscribe to view new posts any thread you have posted in. I learned this from SanDiego1K and Canarsie. Here's how to do it.
Setting up auto-subscribe to threads in which you post.
Go to MyFlyerTalk.
Select Edit Options at the left.
Look for "Default Thread Subscription Mode" and select "No email notification" from the pull-down menu.
While you're here, look for "Number of Posts to Show Per Page" and select "Show 40 Posts Per Page", which will give you fewer pages to look at.
Don't forget to scroll down and "Save Changes".
Setting up subscriptions to a forum:
Go to the main page for the forum you want to subscribe to.
Near the right end of the taller blue bar, next to "Search this Forum", you will see "Forum Tools". Click that, and select "Subscribe to This Forum". Select "No email notification" and "Add subscription".
Repeat this for all forums you want to subscribe to.
Now you have one-stop shopping for all your main interests on FlyerTalk at your MyFlyerTalk page. Enjoy!
Charity Solitations
Any charity related items that involves a solitation needs to be approved by the TalkBoard before being posted in any forum. If approved by the TB, postings regard the charity solitation will be allowed by the forum moderators in the relevant forum(s). A heads-up PM to the forum moderator(s) after TB approvals and prior to posting is encouraged.
Any and all unapproved charity solitations will be deleted promptly by the forum moderator(s).
Special Thanks
Lastly, I want to thank
nsx. This came off a similar thread he has in the Southwest forum. Recent discussions have resulted in the conclusion that JetBlue should have a similar thread. So, here it is.
