Sending luggage NRT > KIX?

After some research, it seems like I should be able to ship my checked bags from NRT directly to KIX (I have an overland segment 3 days later). Does anyone have experience with this?

From the looks at it, I would drop it off at the same facility in NRT as where the luggage storage would be.

What I can't exactly nail down is the actual cost per piece (50lbs/23kg). I *think* it should be under 2000 JPY?

Here a link to Yamato Transport:

Thanks.

I'm afraid I can't help with NRT, but I used two different luggage delivery services when I was in Japan in October (Tokyo - Kyoto and back again) and it cost me $28 for 2 suitcases of about that sort of weight one direction, and $33 the other (possible the weights were slightly different and, as I said, it was a different company).

The luggage delivery services have counters at NRT in the arrivals lobby just outside Immigration and Customs. In Terminal 1, they are at either end of the long arrivals lobby, not in the same location as baggage storage.

Thanks for the replies. Hopeful someone will come along and confirm that I can do a direct Narita Airport to Kansai Airport transfer. Otherwise I guess I'll be the guinea pig and report back.

On a related question, I found this page:
http://www.jalabc.com/english/index2.html

... where one can ship luggage from one's location and have it checked in for you, so that the next time you see your luggage is when you arrive at your destination airport. I'm wondering if I could do that from NRT, i.e., "drop off" my bags at their counter location, have it sent to KIX, checked for me, and I pick it up when I arrive in TPE.

I would call, but my Japanese isn't exactly up to snuff.

I agree with beep88, this sort of thing is routine for the takyubbin companies.

Hi IceTrojan,

Just wondering if you've completed your trip and if you sent the luggage from NRT to KIX successfully

I'm planning on doing something similar from HND to NRT but my layover is 5 days so i'm wondering if i'll have to pay daily storage fee as well

Thanks~

Oh yes, thanks for reminding me (shoot, just noticed how late I am so hopefully this will still help!)

Worked like a charm... found the Yamato counter. The employees didn't speak much English, but knew exactly what I wanted when I wrote "KIX". They wrote down when to expect my luggage to arrive (1 day earlier than I needed, but that's fine), circled the info on where to pick it up (counter at departures level of KIX), I paid with my CC, and got my receipt/claim check. When I arrived to pick up the luggage, it was already stacked on a cart, ready to be wheeled over for check-in.

It was brilliant and efficient. I imagine there would be no problems doing the same thing NRT>HND, and probably the same cost (if not cheaper) than paying for daily storage.

Totally recommended.

Luggage service is one of my many favorite things about Japan.
