"Christmas" is just another word for Tuesday.
(but then again, this not being a religious holiday, at least we're allowed to say "Christmas" here without worrying about offending somebody...)

But you know, thinking about this a bit more...this year, the Emperor's birthday falls on a Sunday, so the following day, Christmas Eve, will be a national holiday. And the emperor is "a direct descendant of Amaterasu", the main Shinto God.
So Japan celebrates the birth of the descendant of God on Christmas Eve. Not quite caught up with the Western world just yet, but getting awfully close!

Let's not forget the muzak Christmas music on continuous repeat at the grocery stores this time of year...
... or the Roppongi Hills egg (seems the Hills is less lit up than normal this year though)
... or the Midtown light show (seems more gaudy than normal this year)

How I long for December 26th...when the ancient Japanese music starts playing, and the kadomatsu come out. The season only lasts a week, far too short a time to get tired of it...
