I did BKK-KIX-LAX return in J recently on the 787. Despite all the worry about the angled seat, I slept like a baby, and it was more comfortable than some 180d ones I'd been in. Additionally, the air nozzles above the seat mean any issues with overheating are largely negated.

Was at ITM airport from LAX, immigration was a breeze, out and about in 10 min. My girlfriend who flew into KIX on the other hand, was stuck at KIX immigration for 2+ hours due to the influx of Chinese tourists..

Last week was Golden Week in China, week long holiday around the October 1st. There were a lot of Chinese travelling everywhere in Japan. Like the Japanese Golden Week, the peak travel period for people going abroad.
I wonder how you got through immigration in Itami as it is only a domestic airport.
