Domestic upgrade (JPY1000) cause fare code change ?

I'm booked on NRT-FUK in S, and paid the ¥1000 upgrade fee at the gate. Does my fare code change, and if so, to what ? Thanks

I've never experienced a fare change when doing the ¥1000 upgrade.

I never experienced my fare base change. If you are booking domestic as part of your international flight, you always get 100% miles anyway.

I upgraded myself to class J on OKA-HND at the end of last year.

This was part of an international ticket, so I was eligible for 100% of the mileage.

日付 内容 マイル1 ボーナスマイル2 合計マイル1+2
14/12/16 JL0927 羽田-沖縄984 541 1,525
14/12/29 JL0902 沖縄-羽田984 541 1,525

All I got was the same base mile 984 + 55% status bonus as JMB Crystal.(Was still Crystal back then)

So you should get the same miles as you would originally get before upgrade.

How did you pay for the upgrade?

I just did my mileage run and the miles / fop registered correctly.

Did you used the class J coupon? If thats the case then this is normal.

Last couple times I did the upgrade, my original ticket was also an S fare I think which earned no miles, but afterwards it showed up as a Y fare that earned 100% miles as "Economy Superseat."

If you get an "S" fare it means it's linked with an International Ticket. For JL it's almost given that if it's part of international ticket you get 100% miles regardless you pay the class J seat or not.

FYI, the J / F miles for OKA should registered as below for JMB Ruby

This is not entirely relevant, JAL has a very useful FOP calculator to determine exactly how many FOPs you'll get from a given route/fare/upgrade/status combination when earning on JMB.

https://www.jal.co.jp/en/jmb/flyon_rn/

All domestic segments on an international ticket earn 100%, with Class J earning an additional 10%.

Okay, that makes sense then. Because I assumed I wouldn't get any mileage at all, but I had upgrade the legs at the check-in counter to Class J (hence unsure if the upgrade was what gave me my mileage).

He was only referring to JMB rules. AM is still based on booking class which is usually booked in Y/H/G before the upgrade if booked in conjunction with international flights.
