HIKERGUY: I noticed on your itinerary from LIM/CUZ & CUZ/LIM that you were flying "Y" class both ways. My "Y" class fare was US$171, but I got "W" class fare for the return from Cuzco for only US$59 on TA 8. You have to get the ticket from a travel agent in Peru. I booked both the US$171 flight and the US$59 flight through Raymi Travels "[email protected]". I will pick-up my tickets when I arrive in LIMA. If you have already purchased your tickets, it is obviously a moot point. If you don't have the time or want the hassle of picking-up the tickets when you arrive in LIMA, I can understand that as well. Raymi Travels was recommended by a number of posters on the Lonely Planet Thorn Tree bulletin board, and has been extremely helpful so far. I guess I'll know for sure when I arrive in Lima to pick-up and pay for the tickets .

MauiGirl, flight lacsa 641 also leaves from LAX about the same time as lr691. couldn't you get a seat on lr641 then you wouldn't have to connect in SJO. same thing on the way back lr640 goes all the way to LAX. if you can stay on that flight you wouldn't have to switch to lr690. you might want to just ask at the airport when you're checking in if they can put you on the direct plane.
