Bad news, I am afraid:
http://www.felcor.com/properties/pro...ting/by-brand/
If the reports are accurate, by a process of elimination, it appears that at least one of the 2 French Quarter hotels is a goner.
Bad news, I am afraid:
The properties in Boston, Houston, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Diego and Santa Monica will be converted to Wyndham Hotels and Resorts properties, and The Mills House in Charleston will become a Wyndham Grand® hotel.
If the reports are accurate, by a process of elimination, it appears that at least one of the 2 French Quarter hotels is a goner.

They are already in discussions with the city of Santa Monica to demolish and rebuild that location so it would have been lost anyway within the next few years. http://www.surfsantamonica.com/ssm_s...Make_Over.html

Guys, I hate to tell you this but another news article I read indicated that 22 H/Is in Germany were soon to be purchased by an Israeli group that has properties throughout Europe under the Leonardo brand name.
Now, it is quite possible that the new owners will continue with them as H/Is -- and the article was silent on the new owners designs -- but they did mention that they have an exisiting portfolio of properties in Europe under the above-name hotel group.
That would be a major loss if so many H/Is were to leave the fold -- not saying it is going to happen, but certainly it could.

From a nostalgic standpoint, the one thing that is sad about the Holiday Inn Santa Monica Pier changing branding is that it was featured on the 1970's ABC TV comedy series "Three's Company" open during seasons 4 & 5. There are actually people who stay there because of that fact http://www.iamnotastalker.com/2012/0...ment-building/ (first comment)
I also went to high school is Santa Monica during that same time period so I find the change sad as well. I parked just across the street from it last week in the Santa Monica Place.

It's apparently the portfolio of Queens Hotels Group that owns arguably some of the shabbiest HIs in Germany. http://www.qgd-hotels.com and http://www.qgd-hotels.com/hotels-holiday-inn.php

The Holiday Inn Philadelphia is also on the Wyndham site. While it's good for Wyndham, as the only other hotel they have in and around Center City (downtown) Philly is a dumpy Travelodge, this is pathetic for IHG, as they have gone from 3 hotels near downtown Philly to a sole HIX in less than a year. Compare that to Hilton (5 + 1 coming), Starwood (6 + 2 coming), and Marriott (4) in the city and it's easy to see how pathetic it is.

Without looking, the cynic in me wonders how many of these properties leaving were ones that went down in required points for a reward night stay. If a hotel is leaving, 6c might as well "use" it while you can.

Apparently 15 HIs, 4 Best Western, 1 independent (Queens Hotel Hannover, ex HI), 2 others not mentioned. (in German)

By the way does it say in German what their ultimate disposition is -- are they to continue to fly the IHG flag, or no?
