Do we have upgrade success thread for just plat?
Do you know any properties give upgrade to plat?
It will be nice to get Jr. Suite upgrade just being Plat.

Interesting; I stayed at an IC property in Japan recently, and I received not only a room upgrade but late checkout as well. Are PC standards that different between countries?

It's based on availability. So.... it's more like where and when.
If you got room upgrade and late check-out at IC in Tokyo for just being Plat.(w/o amb), I say you got lucky. IMO and IME.
One thing I know for sure is that, when I was just Plat. few years back,
I had hard time getting late check-out even at ICs in US. (maybe 1 out of 10 success)
I don't really care about room upgrade, unless I get like Jr. suite from standard.
Anyway, late check-out was the reason I joined ambassador program.
After joining, I had no problem getting 4pm check-out at any of IC around world.

No thread that I know of. The ones I've stayed at all gave me nice upgrades as a Plat, but all were in Asia.

Staying at IC Coex. The lady who escorted me to the room told me the club lounge opened about a month ago. Very nice spread of food. I am now sitting in the lounge for cocktail, but I only see a few people.

Club Lounge has been opened since Jan
Grand Seoul has same upgrade policy for AMB/RA. Just 1 step upgrade.
Also you can't get upgrade higher than Residence Suite even if you book Residence Suite.
Even if you are a RA, they won't give you neither club benefit or 2 step upgrade.
Exactly same as an Ambassador. But you can get free sauna
Usually they charge about $30 for sauna.
Coex Seoul offers upgrade to ambassador floor(higher and nice view) with free internet for ambassador member. They don't have 1-Category higher room so they offer free internet instead.
RA will get club room and free sauna. They opened newly built club lounge from this year. So it's new.

Both Seoul IC's have only suites available on Fri March 23rd from 2,000,000 KRW upwards, so this means standard rooms are sold out right?
Switch the search to Reward nights & standard rooms become available.
I guess this is because properties are obliged to make 5% of inventory available for IVANI bookings, unless someone can suggest an alternative reason?

Therefore, even if you book on Reward Nights, it could be cancelled by hotels. I recommend you to call to hotel after making a reservation to ensure your reservation.

COEX is more likely to be booked since it is connected to the center hall. Grand would be my choice because the rooms are nicer and newer.

I have, but at the Holiday Inn Seongbuk, not the Coex. It's basically a thin mattress on the floor - I like a hard bed so quite enjoyed it. If you like a soft bed then best to avoid.
