Alice Springs Crowne Plaza: Doubletree as of 1 May 2013

Has anyone stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Alice Springs? How is the hotel, both in terms of its physical plant and its location? Does it extend any benefits to plats?

A decent 20 minute walk to the city centre.
Definitely take a taxi or drive yourself.
I found the hotel perfectly adequate.
I have completely forgotten whether there
were any platinum benefits of note.
Must be some chance it pops up on the next
PB list as February is extremely hot up there.

Perfectly acceptable hotel though it is a bit of a walk from town but under no circumstances would I attempt to walk after dark due to the problem residents who camp all along the river.

My review is here. There's not a huge choice in Alice Springs!

I spent one night there in November.

I booked the largest suite, Premier Suite: "BOOK A PREMIER SUITE FOR THE ULTIMATE IN LUXURY AND SPACE YOUR EXTENSIVE PRIVATE BALCONY HAS VIEWS OF THE MACDONNELL MOUNTAIN RANGE YOU WILL BENEFIT FROM A SEPARATE LIVING ROOM AND DINING ROOM KITCHENETTE AND 2 BATHROOMS PERFECT FOR ALL THE FAMILY "

Really large, but dated decor. Could not get the TV in the living room to work. No one came despite calling reception.

The Rest and Recreation package was good: "Includes breakfast for two, in the evening enjoy a tasting plate and 2 house drinks in our recently refurbished deck bar.STAY AT CROWNE PLAZA ALICE SPRINGS ON THE REST AND RECREATION PACKAGE AND RECEIVE BUFFET BREAKFAST FOR TWO AND EVENING DRINKS AND A TASTING PLATE FOR TWO"

The tapas were really tasty and the offer was good value.

Good breakfast buffet and friendly staff.

Whilst not excellent and not close to much, I enjoyed my brief stay and thought it was good value and reasonable service.

I loved the peacock posing by the pool!!

I left the completed comment card, with positives and negatives as above, and had an email from the GM as I sat in the QF lounge!

Stayed at this hotel a year and a half ago. At the time I was PC Platinum and got upgraded to a suite. It was decent but not the cleanest. I had complained to the front desk about the poor cleaning and they comped one of my nights. The Vietnamese/Thai restaurant on property is excellent and highly recommended. You could tell the hotel was top notch in the '80s but I don't think there are many alternatives. The hotel served its purpose as a base for visiting Uluru and the rates were reasonable. I managed to take a photo of the peacock by the pool

There's a casino hotel next door which is perfectly fine to walk to at night, but I echo the comments about not walking into town after dark. The Aboriginal people camp out along the river at night and are drunk/high/etc. They disappear during the daytime but you can see all the trash littered along the river.

Just seen the news that this (and all hotels in Darwin) are going over to Hilton in May... What till that mean for my F&F reservation there in September?
