The French voter card will turn into discount card at IHG hotels
The IHG hotel group will launch in 21 of its hotels a promotion reserved for French voters who could certify their participation in the two rounds of French Presidential voting.
The voter card will turn into discount card at select hotels group InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). The hotel giant, which owns the Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Crowne Plaza brands, will indeed set up in May a 20% discount on room rates, reserved exclusively for customers who can show they were well to the polls for the two rounds of voting.
This special operation, called "Elections 2012", will involve 21 properties, from Lille to Montpellier and Toulouse to Strasbourg, via Paris. Reservations will be from April 15, only by phone.
"Guests just have to submit their voter registration card duly stamped with the dates of the two Presidential rounds at the hotel reception upon check-in," the company said in a statement. "This offer will run during the weekends of May that will follow the presidential election," said IHG.
According to the latter, this promotion is a first in France. The group presents itself as goal to "encourage the spirit of citizenship." But no way to talk about an operation to fill empty rooms: "This is only a creative idea, original, which came to us after a discussion with the hotel group," says one head of communications. "The goal was to enjoy the big news that is the presidential election. It is not known yet whether it will be a success. But we already know that the press will talk about our hotels"
