Jet Airways USA website versus India Website

I just checked a one way fare inside India and I get two different prices with USA website price triple the cost of the price on the India website? Anyone seen this before? Is it okay to book through India website in Indian Rupee?

Read the Fare Rules and compare the Baggage Allowance / Change Penalty. That should point the difference.

It is two different coach fares just that the one cheaper fare does not show when you go through the USA website portal.

Keep in mind that some airlines state that foreign nationals can only buy USD fares (much higher than INR fares). Rarely enforced though.

This is usual for Jet on domestic flights.

Thanks for the thoughts. I booked on Indigo instead as I don't have any respect for an airline that try's to charge me more because I am in the USA.

It is not a matter of respecting or loving an airline. All airlines have dozens upon dozens of fares---and yes, they depend on "sales city" too among other things. I am in the USA but I have purchased AA tickets from AA's site in Germany when it was cheaper to do so. It is just business, a very complex one. You have a lot of fares in front of you: pick the one you like (along with its conditions).

Kudos to you for checking alternate Indian carriers like Indigo that are not offered by most US sites. You did the right thing. Just that there is no need to react emotionally.

indigo does not have a us presence....if they did then they might be doing the same thing....no airline is better than the other in this regard....

It is a good idea to first check an India booking site (e.g. makemytrip) for an India fare - as these will show local India prices.

I have learned that nobody is always good for everything, so I check a few sites before buying any ticket. As I travel to India often I have a special folder with the following bookmarks:

kayak.in
ixigo.com
expedia.in
makemytrip.com (choose India in upper right corner)
cleartrip.com (choose India in upper right corner)
yatra.com (skip their offer to take you to the US portal!)

I have a few more but this would be a good core list. Once you find a flight, you'll need to decide whether to buy directly from the airline or from a TA. Good luck!
