The Mon-Wed review for a 5-mile bonus was extended (at least for AA) thru the end of the year.

Moderator's note: This promo, ALL DOUBLE NO TROUBLE, required one to dine Mon-Tue-Wed and rate the dine to earn double miles; the promo was terminated early, August 30 2010, due to a "lack of participation".

The AA 500-point Restaurant Hopping promotion also requires a review (for those dining Thursday - Sunday).

If you purchase an online gift card, does that count towards your dining rewards?

No, you need to have your credit card swiped in-person.

I think the answer may be "it depends..." If it's a big chain where the restaurant is using an ecommerce platform, then I'd agree with Points Scrounger; you probably won't get the dine/rewards.

However, you don't always have to be there in person. There's a restaurant in my neck of the woods where I call-in my order for a gift card. The manager manually enters in my cc into the terminal and then mails me the gift card. I'd imagine that if an establishment was a bit archaic and simply collected a gift card order via the website and ran the credit card manually - then you'd still be able to get the rewards.

I was also thinking that you'd have no register receipt, but I suppose a copy of the credit card statement with the restaurant name and date-of-transaction would suffice.

As you see, you can, within the limitations. Check the appropriate existing threads on the two promos, be sure to register first where required, and enjoy. Play it right, leverage programs, you could theoretically eat as you would anyway, but do a good score:
  • Rate the All Double No Trouble M-T-W: 100% bonus miles
  • Rate the Restaurnat Hopping (never ate there before): 500 bonus miles
  • OpenTable - 1,000 OpenTable points if possible! (worth $10)
  • Use a credit card with its own bene - e.g. Hilton HHonors 3 points per dollar spent

Na-ah, extended to the end of September, you are confusing the 500 mile new restaurant hopper w/ the double M-W promotion that ended around August 18th.

You must continue to satisfy Online and/or VIP Member level criteria to earn this bonus.

To earn this bonus, you must spend $25 or more at participating restaurants, bars or clubs where you have not yet earned AAdvantageŽ miles. You must dine and submit a dining survey about the restaurant within 30 days of each dine in order to earn the 500 AAdvantageŽ bonus miles. All dines must occur by September 30, 2010. Dines at participating restaurants, bars or clubs where you have previously visited and earned rewards will not count toward the Restaurant Hopping Bonus. Please note that activity that occurred prior to registration will not be eligible for this bonus. In addition, all dines must occur during a valid reward period and be paid for with a credit or debit card registered in the AAdvantage DiningSM program. There is no maximum number of bonus miles you can earn. Offer is not combinable with other AAdvantage DiningSM bonuses with the exception of the Very Merry Birthday Bonus. The 500 AAdvantageŽ bonus miles will be awarded after the submission of a completed survey within 30 days of the dine. Please allow 6-8 weeks for any bonus miles to post to your AAdvantage DiningSM account. All account inquiries related to this bonus must be received by November 30, 2010.

Please note that some restaurants offer rewards only on certain days of the week or up to a maximum spending amount per month. For complete program Terms and Conditions, guidelines and restrictions, and the latest rewards calendar, visit aa.rewardsnetwork.com. Other limitations may apply

The Restaurant Hopping promo does NOT require that you dine on Thursday - Sunday, or have any other special requirements for particular days of the week. It's good every day of the week -- at least, those are the rules for the AA miles version of the promo (perhaps you saw a different version?).

As others have pointed out, this promo lasts through the end of this month (September 2010), unless idine/RN, in its infinite wisdom, decides to end it early!

My initial wording reflected the fact that the ALL DOUBLE NO TROUBLE was (to be) in effect for the balance of the year, so that one needed to do a review for the AA bonus, on days when otherwise ineligible for the ADNT bonus. I hope that explanation of context helps eliminate any concern.
