Beware of CLASSIC airfare when codesharing

Even though it is clearly specified that this airfare includes seat selection, if the flight selected is operated by another airline, you may need to pay again to the operating airline in order to select your seat.

I booked MAD/TXL/MAD on the IB site, selected a flight operated by AB, and even though it is specified in bold that by selecting the CLASSIC airfare the seat selection is included, it is not. It is only clarified AFTER you paid, that this is not valid on flights not operated by IB.

Another scam? Learned my lesson, book my flight only on the page of the operating airline...

Of course. It's a basic rule to never book a codeshare if the operator is charging the same price. Too much aggravation usually involved...
