Got an e-mail on Monday with an offer to upgrade next weeks flight MAD-GRU for 500 €. When I booked months ago I could bid 400 € for the same, but the on-line offer disappeared after a week or two.

I'm flying LAX-MAD in a week and just got the email from Iberia about this upgrade. Does anyone know if I can bid less than the suggested amount and still have a chance? Or, if I bid the suggested amount (which was 500€) is is somewhat likely I'll get the upgrade? It looks like Business is only about 1/2 full on my flights.
Thanks for any info!

Paid 450 Euros for upgrade MAD-PTY at the MAD CS desk on April 24th. ^
The on-line bidding did not work at all - no reply by the time I landed in MAD on my (QR) DOH-MAD flight.

Has anyone had issues with mileage posting to AA or other airlines?
The segment is rebooked into U class which is technically an award bucket - hoping that IB posts the original class of service.

My friend just got a $500 upgrade TLV-MAD-JFK, so yes in answer to your question, and it's even better considering TLV-MAD is over 2,000 miles and has the nice mid-haul cradle seats.
He paid about $800 for his underlying ticket, and plans to upgrade the return if offered, so total cost $1,800.
Meanwhile I am flying the identical route on Saturday, paid $2,200 for I-class, and my extra $400 ensured I definitely had a biz seat, 560 BA tier points, 41,000 Avios earned rather than the 17,000 for low econ, and an extra 20,000 Avios under BA's transatlantic bonus. 0.9 cents per extra Avios (and $1 per BA tier point) seems a good deal to me!

I have a flight in 2months MAD-GRU, they offer me to bid for a J seat for 450€. If I bid in both legs, 900€ at least, for about 1200€ its possible to find the same flights with IB/BA on J - score a few more miles/avios.
The sad point, A340 - old J seats isn't my favourites. If I had paid attention I had choose A330.
Anyway, I'll try on check-in desk.

I think the A340s on the MAD-GRU route have all been refurbished. Certainly when I took it last year (also back from EZE), every day I looked at showed the new seating.
