Hyatt to open hotel in Okinawa in May 2015

http://www.japanupdate.com/2014/09/h...naha-next-may/

Photos of the construction site: http://nandemoari2nd.blog95.fc2.com/...ntry-5921.html (Japanese)

It will apparently have about 300 rooms and will be about 5-10 minutes walk from the Makishi monorail station, next to the Sakurazaka Theatre.

I haven't heard much about this since the article came out, and I've no idea which brand it will fall under (though I suspect Hyatt Regency). Perhaps others could shed some light on this upcoming property?

The PHR Okinawa Management hiring site gives an opening of July.

Given the location, my guess is that it will be a Hyatt Place.

Upon further review, you are correct. Though no website exists, the domains naha.regency.hyatt.com and www.hyattregencynaha.com are live.

Thanks for posting the link. Not a lot lot of info, but the images look nice enough.

It would have been wonderful to have a resort, but this should do nicely for sightseeing purposes.

This is way past due and I am very much looking forward to having a Hyatt option to hit close to home. I am wondering what category they will be, hopefully not higher than 4. I hope to stay there the first night possible to book.

The pics from their website look fabulous. Nice to know there's a Hyatt now rather than base lodging or the RC.

I drove by yesterday. The hotel is in a great location (aside from the fact that it is right behind a park that is full of homeless people). I took a few terrible pictures:

Seriously though, the location couldn't really be any better.

Thanks for the pics. The building itself looks finished. I wonder if they'll be open in summer 2015, as I've read somewhere, or late 2015, as I've read somewhere else. I think we'll be looking for our first stay around GW 2016.

Good to hear, but not too impressed that they're releasing to the travel agents before allowing bookings on Hyatt.com. Nice way to treat GP members

The hotel is now open for bookings from August 1, but there doesn't seem to be any points and cash availability. Reports say the hotel's grand opening is July 2, however. (Confirmed)

There are only 14 suites at this property -- I wonder if this will have an impact on the use of DSUs...

C+P are now available but somehow DSU are not able to be applied despite standard suites being on sale.

I believe in the past, DSUs can only be applied when the hotel is actually open.

Hyatt told me:

The DSU for C+P is different from a paid rate DSU. There is a specific rate plan to use for DSU for C+P and that is not available.
which doesn't make sense...
