There will be 10x less compared to last year, cuz winners ended up closer to 50% off than 90% - after all resort fees, taxes/fees. The $1000 cap made people book 3-4 days vs. 7-10 days on most properties

On a more pedestrian level, has anyone been able to use the Starwood "up to 35% off Biggest Sale of the Year" rate code for any savings?

I have a number of trips planned for the upcoming year and have been tracking hotel rates for over a month. Their "sale" rates in every instance are exactly the same prices they have been selling the rooms for already.

I did book Jan.1-5 at Wyndham Bonnet Creek (on Disneyworld grounds) at 40% off Best Available Rate, cancellable before Dec.27 (when I'm likely to cancel)

87/nite. But how I hate it when the final bill has nothing to do with the "rate": it's $475 after tax and resort fees. I will not be using this reservation

I think that LM Siem Reap was US$107 in January when I'm going, which is about a $3 savings. However, Hot Escapes sometimes is closer to $100.

Expedia is so ridiculous. I applied the 90% coupon to shelburne nyc on cyber monday. The discount applied but every time I tried to check out it would say checkout error or whatever the message was. I was refreshing the promo page and the coupon did not say all have been used but I still couldn't check out. I took screenshots and sent them to Expedia on Twitter. They then say they cannot look up an issue without an itinerary. How can I get an itinerary if their application won't let me check out?!

So I book the room. They take 3 days to look into it and say the coupon was not applied have a nice day. So I am going back and forth asking how they can look up an itinerary again for something that was never booked because of some bogus error with their app. Eventually they block me on Twitter even though I have pics to prove everything.

To sum is up I will never use Expedia again. I hope they have people out there who look at these boards

In all likelihood, you weren't quick enough. It has been reported that the coupons were all used up in about 5 seconds. Numerous people have reported being able to apply the coupon, but then not being able to check out in time.

It was a waste of time for me as they went so quickly.

I think that the only remarkable thing with this sale is that 10,000 people wasted one full day on this bs promo sale...Now you calculate what is the cost of this productivity loss and you tell me how much total money was lost that day in this promotion...

These are almost always failures, and just tricks except for the VERY, VERY FEW

I'm typing this from the Gran Caribe Resort and Spa in Cancun. Paid $680 for 5 nights in a beachfront walkout room. Also all-inclusive and the food and drinks were very good.

I know Expedia sucks sometimes but this was one hell of a deal so I thank them. Sad to be going home in a few hours.

Awesome! Love that resort. Capitan David and Gabriela at the concierge still there?
