Las Vegas: Plaza Hotel 12/27/09-12/30/09 $3.02-3.19/night ai

Used Orbitz's ORBITZRB code ($50 off 3 nights until 12/31/09).

Vegas Club's cheapest room ($15/night) not eligible for this code (although the more expensive rooms are).

Plaza works though. $17/day. $53.07 for 3 days + 6.51 taxes - 50.00 (ORBITZRB) = 9.58 (3.19/day). I also booked through eBates for 1% off (seems to be based on the pre-coupon price, so it should give a $0.53 rebate).

$9.05 for 3 days.

Because of this low price, I cancelled my refundable Orbitz reservation at Binions.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm gonna send a buddy over to the Plaza for a couple nights instead of crashing on my sofa.

Good thing you got an alternate hotel room.

I believe Binion's hotel closed indefinitely last week.

Orbitz was very organized. They called me last week & said my Binions reservation would be switched to the Four Queens (if I gave my approval).

:-) How's it going Mrp? Give me a call when I'm back in Vegas 12/27-1/13. I'd love to catch up!

I stayed there in 2006 because someone else made the reservation. The place is a complete dump and I wouldn't stay there for free. There's plenty of good deals on the strip depending on the day. I stayed at the MGM Signature last year for $99/night mid week and $149 on the weekend.

Binion's have closed their coffee shop and hotel operations for now, the rest of the hotel, snack bars, casino operations and steakhouse remain open.

Other hotels have also scaled back, with the Sahara closing all but its newest tower for hotel guests. Hotel stays are WAY down in Vegas, and something had to give.

However, downtown, there are three great choices to stay; the Golden Nugget, which everyone knows about, and Main Street Station, which is excellent, and not really that well known, and while it looks dumpy in the casino, the El Cortez really does have awsome rooms.
