Daily Hotel Deals (Groupon-Voyage Privé-Bloomspot-etc)
I started this thread back when Groupon was the main player in daily deal hotel offers. Now, there are a plethora of sites, some much better than others. My email inbox overflows with alerts everyday, but over the last year and a half, I have my favorites. Never have I seen a Groupon for less than 50% off. Voyage Privé, Jetsetter and SniqueAway offer worldwide luxury at various discount percentages. LivingSocial and Bloomspot have post-worthy deals every once in a while. Rarely do I spend more than $100/nt on hotel stays, so TripAlertz hasn't appealed to me at all.
Groupon's international sites aren't officially for non-native buyers, but we've had reports from Flyertalkers they've successfully bought and used certificates. You'll need to be creative when filling in your address and billing details. See posts #335, #425, #428, #499, 1074, #1396, #1400.
After a year and a half, I have finally purchased my first deal (Groupon's $99/nt Embassy Suites Boston Logan), so don't have firsthand experience using these. Another disclaimer is, I use use Google Translate to read non-English sites. (Good for an occasional laugh. )
Posting these deals is rewarding, but time-consuming. Please PM for my referral / invitation links to any of these sites whenever possible.
