DISCUSSION for Hilton Honors Hotels in Prague, Czech Republic {CZE}
I have a reward stay later this year in Prague. It's a four night stay including New Years Eve. I currently have reservations at the Hilton Prague, Hilton Prague Old Town, and the Marriott Old Town. Have some questions for FTers in the know -
I know from numerous posts that the Hilton Prague (original) treats elites pretty well. There seems to be limited info/reviews on the Old Town location (previously a Renaissance I think - across from the Marriott). I want to finalize my reservations now so I can not think about it anymore - so I want to decide what reservation to keep...
1) Sounds like the original Hilton Prague is only about 1 mile outside the city - will this be a god location to get into enjoy any New Years festivities if I stay there?
or..
2) Should I definitely stay in town at the Old Town Hilton or the Marriott? I do ave more Marriott points, so what are the drawbacks to the Marriott vs. the Hilton (besides a much larger property and a casino?)

The Renaissance felt warmer and had a much better location. The Marriott is meant to be nicer than the former Renaissance and is just across the road. The Marriot had a decent casino too if that is your bag, just not quite as large as the Hilton. I am not sure about Executive lounge facilities at the Old Town Hilton this could be a deciding factor.
The real pain about the location of the Hilton Prague is the need to get taxis everywhere and Prague taxis are such a rip off I find that I get quite annoyed, quite quickly.

I was at the Prague Hilton twice in November and found it warm and welcoming. Teresa and Nicola(the executive lounge hostesses) were both amazing and really seemed to care about their guests. As for the rest of the hotel, can't imagine it seeming impersonal as all of the employees were smiling and welcoming at all times.
It is not a bad walk into Old Town from the hotel and if it is too daunting for anyone the Florenc Metro Station is only a couple of blocks away. I did use this for the trip up to Prague Castle.
If you are worried about Prague taxis just use the dedicated fleet from the hotel. Perhaps a little more expensive, but you will know the price in advance and the service will be great. Bill it to your room and collect HH Points at the same time.
I will certainly stay at the Prague Hilton on my next visit here.

I have only used the ample AAA taxi in Prague (about 10 times) and never was ripped off or disappointed. The hotels private taxi fleet is about 30% more expensive and unnecessary except if you want it posted on the hotel bill.

Hilton Old Town
Stayed at the Hilton Old Town for five nights in January. The hotel as a Hilton has been open for only a few months. Our room was very nice. Spacious, nice design. The executive lounge is right off of the Lobby reception area. The staff was great, drink selections good. Food ok, breakfast continental style. The walk to old town not too bad, after learning the way. We used the Taxi servcie that worked with the Hilton and the Marriott across the street. I too had reservations at both Hiltons and waited until the last minute to decide. I never went to the other Hilton, we drove by it several times. I was very pleased with our decision to stay at Hilton Old Town.

It comes down to whether or not you are ok taking the public transportation. In Dec. it will be a bit cold so the idea that you'd walk each day from Prague Hilton into the Old Town or across the river to the Castle is probably pushing it. If your ok with the metro/tram then stay at the Prague Hilton.
Also if working out is important during your stay then again I'd stay at the Prague Hilton.
The old town hilton is closer - rooms in both hotels are nice.
Enjoy your trip.

Which of the Prague Hiltons would you recommend for a Honeymoon?
I think we are going to go to Europe on Honeymoon to use up some of my Hilton Points (Diamond with 320k+ points). Right now we are leaning towards Rome for a few days and then Prague. I'm leaning towards the Old Town Hilton over the original Hilton, but would love to hear from people who have been.

Hilton Prague x 2
Hi, family 17yrs,12yrs, wife(questionable age), and I are going to Hilton Dresden in December for the Xmas market. Best way from UK appears to be to fly to Prague and get the train across.
Which is the best Hilton to stay at in Prague out of the two, for one night with respect to location and treatment of Diamond status on points, we arrive at Prague at 5pm, 20th December. Appologies if this has been asked before, although Diamond status for 12yrs, first time on this Forum!
Thanks in anticipation!!??

Hilton Prague would seem to fit the bill. Actually, their double queen rooms could fit a friendly family of 4 in one room. Lounge is fantastic. Search this forum for "Prague" and read the comparison of Hilton Prague vs Hilton Old town
I see you are a new poster, so welcome to Flyertalk. Good luck on your trip.

I agree the lounge in the Hilton Prague is fantastic, but the location of the Hilton Old town is great.
If you plan to save dinner every night by eating in the lounge, I would choose the Hilton Prague, but for seightseing, Hilton Old Town is unbeatable.

Again, if you'll check out this thread as I noted above you'll be able to compare. Both have their advantages, I suppose, but for me the Prague Hilton wins hands-down, for the reasons discussed in that thread.

Welcome To The Forum!
Stayed at the Prague Hilton about 6 years. VERY good experiance. We got upgraded to the Concierge level. The Complimentary breakfast buffett was far superior to any buffet that I ahev ever had in the States on the lounge level, I think you'll really enjoy the experiance. BTW, if you happen to like game (wild boar, pheasant, duck, etc) Prague has about the best selection on the plant (-:

Just to add a different perspective. I stayed at the Prague Hilton last weekend. It was the first time I had stayed there in 5 years. The interior is much improved and the room decor and furnishings and bathrooms are a massive improvement on how they used to be.
Frankly I found the lounge underwhelming. For evening nibbles it is common to find much more food options in the smaller London properties (e.g. Tower Bridge). There was a reasonable amount of alcohol on offer but of a lower quality than in my past stays. The ambience of the lounge has also been ruined IMHO without the low lighting and lit fire the lounge looks rather like a large canteen.
The location is relatively inconvenient compared to the Old Town Hilton (where I have only stayed in the properties former guise as a Renaissance). I would definitely opt for location next time I visit Prague.
