Arrow DoubleTree Resort & Spa by Hilton Hotel Seychelles - Allamanda {SYC}

While on a recent, fantastic visit to the Seychelles (which I'll write up as soon as I have a chance), I was told by a very reliable source (???) - a taxi driver - that Hilton is taking over the Allamanda hotel there:

Does anyone know anything about this? Sounds like it could be a nice addition to the already great Hilton presence there.

Seems mediocre right now--perhaps Hilton can turn it into something enticing?

I agree. But Hilton did do a good job at converting its second property in the Seychelles, Labriz, from one getting mixed reviews to a superb hotel. If my info is correct (and I'm not sure about that), could be it will do the same with this property. It does sound like the small size of the hotel and the nice beach location weigh in favor of it having some good potential.

Extra choices are always good, especially in places like Seychelles.

Looking forward to your trip report, Thunderroad ^

Opening date is set for October 2012, just in time for my honeymoon is April 2013. I'm hoping this may be a CAT 5 or 6...

Nice to see! As befits a Doubletree, doesn't look like it will be as swank as the other two. But as also befits a Doubletree, could nevertheless be quite nice and looks like it has a lovely beach. Plus it looks to be quite a small property, perhaps 30 or 40 rooms, which is nice.

Looks like it will be opening in Dec 2012, but not possible to book yet. Would like to try this property for my annual Seychelles trip

Edit: It will be cat. 7 hotel, in which case you might as well spend your points on Northolme or Labriz.

DoubleTree Allamanda is presently accepting reservations for arrival May 15, 2013 and beyond.

Still a Cat. 7 hotel....

I booked the Hilton Northolme again instead.

Yes. I stayed in August and had an overall nice experience. Upgraded to the best room in the entire hotel....Top floor on south side with whirlpool balcony. I would recommended doing the hike to Anse Capucins beach. The trail can be accessed just south of the hotel. Beware that the beach is not ideal for swimming from May - September. Definitely rent a car and explore!
