+1 Starwood Plat matched for my Hilton Diamond. Send them last 6 months or so of your stays, and a copy of your card. It took them one day to upgrade my status. Should work for Gold as well.

If my company gets much cheaper on travel I may end up matching to PC... man that's a lot of Holiday Inn Expresses to get a decent stay at a Crowne Plaza or Intercontinental... but maybe actually having promos will offset the pain.

i wonder if other hotel chains would status-match a HH diamond who only has four nights so far during the '09 calendar year (five more nights have been "advance-purchased through the end of june), but who:

(1) originally got his HH diamond status by completing a "8 stays in 45 days" challenge in mid-2008; and who

(2) will likely remain HH diamond in perpetuity anyway by virtue of his AMEX Surpass spending?

might be time to check out *wood....been hearing good things.

SPG, Hyatt, and Priority Club will match, the latter two to top-tier... Wyndham probably would too but doesn't have equivalent upper status tiers... Mariott will probably issue a challenge.

Perhaps I'm just naive.

Are you planning to leave HHonors?
Do you have some reason to believe that another program might better meet your needs, and you're interested in "trying it out"?
Or are you just looking for "something for nothing" (upgrades, breakfast, et cetera)?

Remember, if you're not serious about the program that status matches you...

1) If you ever do decide to switch, it's unlikely you'll get another match.
2) You're diluting the program value to those who have legitimately earned it by competing for limited upgrades. I don't imagine you'd welcome this back in the HHonors program.

Sorry.

Off the soapbox, 365.

Status Matching. How and Who

Long time lurker here, fed up with Honors changes.....
8 Yr Diamond, 2 Yr Plat PCR.
Can anyone tell me who status matches with these, and more importantly how I actually join and request status matching?
Time for my company ££ to be spent away from Hilton.
Thanks

Status match?

Hello everyone.

I will soon be HH Platinum. Which hotel/airline/other programs can give me status match and to what?

What is your experiences, please help.

Kindest regards,
Nalle Gris

I guess you mean Diamond. No airlines will give you status based on Hilton Diamond.

You can get a one time match to SPG Platinum & Hyatt Diamond. After that, you must EARN the status. BTW, if your status falls down in Hilton, Hilton WON'T give you status match based on your SPG/Hyatt status because you were ALREADY Diamond previously. You will have to earn it, though they may offer a fast track.
