Hilton select program was dis honored

Hilton select program was dis honored
So this is what happened,
We were offered the hilton select membership along with a free two nights stay. We Accepted and paid the money they asked for. The member ship was created However When I called to make a reservation, the associate informed me I was not eligible for the program and it has been a mistake, the supervisor later called to explain that we had not yet completed six months since the last package so the offer is being cancelled and money refunded. Really? We didn't ask for all this it was offered by them to begin with and obviously someone did not check before making the offer.
What should we do? Do other hotels have such deals? I am kind off not impressed with hilton after all this.
