are you sure? that means you value 6000 point higher than $34 plus tax?

WA El Conquistador Puerto Rico became a category 7. With AXON still working today post-devaluation, I was able to get 25K points back from a regular GLON 4 nights award I booked yesterday. I say folding WA into regular categories allowing for AXON redemptions is a sweet spot.

Agreed. So far as I can tell, there are now three WA properties that are AXON-eligible:
  • El Conquistador, A Waldorf Astoria Resort (category 7)
  • Waldorf Astoria Panama (category 6)
  • Waldorf Astoria Ras al Khaimah (category 7)

Don't suppose for one minute Hilton are refunding the 'new' prices if you cancel a reward stay booked before d-day?

Hilton nicely returns the original amount of points used for an award stay if you cancel a booking and rebook it for a new lower amount of points.

To me the "bright" spots in the new world are:

Category 10: 38k plus $200 co-pay. Probably best option for Conrad Maldives etc

WA Park City: 50k per night (or 40k per night in multiples of 5 nights) from April on. Spring break skiing

The Hyde Park Hotel -- London -- Soon to become a D/T.

Currently udergoing renovation to end some time in the Spring 2013.

Currently listed as a Category 4.

Booking up to one year ahead -- when the hotel will certainly have been reflagged as a D/T and the renovations ended and its' category is increased = a steal for a Central London hotel.

That does sound pretty good. Too bad for me that the kids spring break around here is always in March. Might have to book an adult only getaway though!

Interesting - I've always considered it a really overpriced hotel and award based on other options around...

(I know what it generally means, but not in this context -- i.e. redemptions.)

These rates (per diamond desk rep) are for properties which offer meal plans, however the rate may or may not include a meal plan - Hurghada Long Beach had rooms in April coming up at 20,000/night w/ 5th night free incl. food & drink, but their non-food awards came in at 4,000/night 5th night free.

Resorts like the Papagayo in CR have standard nights which do not include food. A week in April was 60,000/night without. Only premium awards offered board for as little as 161,000/night. Had the rep email a request for clarification.

*Edit* - Finally heard back 4/19- the response

"Dear Mr. jumpdogjump;

We have received your inquiry. All-inclusive includes meals consumed during the stay at the resort. We are contacting our database team to see if that can be specified on the website. We regret the inconvenience.

Should you require further assistance, please contact the Hilton Customer Service Center at the address or telephone number listed below. Any HHonors Customer Service Representative will be happy to assist you.

Thank you for your continuing support of the Hilton Family and the Hilton HHonors guest reward program.

Sincerely,

xxxxxxx
Hilton Customer Care"

It does look as if there is wording next to the type of standard room which will include the words "ALL-INCLUSIVE" if meals are icluded in the rate. The Papagayo now includes these in the 60,000/night category.

Oh yes, "very sweet"

Old price: 37.5k (for at least 5 nights)
New price in low season: 38k plus 200 $

Oh yes, "very sweet" - indeed! And the rip-off during "high season" is even worse in that hotel.
