Arrow Hampton Inn Chicago Elgin / I-90 {US-IL}

Will be there May 17th, and wanted to know anyone's impression of the property.

What does Hampton provide Hilton Gold Members (Upgrade in room???).

Also, if anyone knows of any Chicago Style Pizza that is good in the area, let me know.

I've never stayed there but I've driven by it many times. It looks like one of the older HIs, your standard 6 story, 16-24 room type. It's very close to the exit ramp from WB 90 to NB 31, you may want to ask for a room that faces away. There's not much right around there for food, but there is some stuff 2-3 miles north on 31 in the next town. There's probably some good pizza there, but maybe not some of the Chicago chains such as Gino's, Giordano's, or Malnatti's.

There's virtually nothing south of value except the Grand Victoria Casino, which can get surprisingly crowded at night because by law Illinois casinos can only have 1200 gaming positions.

You may want to consider staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in Hoffman Estates. This is about 8 miles east on 90 at the Barrington Road exit, but it is only a few years old and is in much better shape than the Elgin Hampton. That is one of the older Hampton's in this area. Be aware that there is mucho construction right now on 90.

IIRC there is no exit ramp at Barrington Road coming from the West and no entrance ramp going back West. If you need some directions let me know.

I haven't stayed at the Elgin Hampton Inn because I live in Elgin but I did stay at the Hoffman Estates HI to complete the amount of stays that I needed at a certain point last year. I wouldn't recommend it. I had problems to get the continental breakfast, the person at the front desk was rude, they couldn't give me a receipt because they had a power problem that day. As a consequence, the stay was not credited. I was supposed to receive double miles because they had a double miles promotion. I had to call the Hhonors desk to get everything right.

To answer your question, I don't recall a Chicago style pizza place in Elgin close to the Hampton Inn but there's one in the next town, Dundee (The HI is in the border of the 2 towns). Take route 31 N to Main Street and turn to the right. You will see it some blocks to the left on a corner. By the way, this is a very beautiful historical town. There was a Hollywood film shot there last year.

FYI- The Grand Victoria Buffet is the best casino buffet in the state. In case that you need more information, let me know.

Thanks everyone for your input. What is the Chicago style pizza joint in Dundee?

Will be staying at the Hampton inn on a point stretcher. Didn't have enough points to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Suposedly the Hampton Inn Elgin has the best service in the state.

Also, can anyone recommend an authentic (non chain) chicago pizza place downtown.

I will be there Sat./Sun. staying at the Chicago Hilton.

Thanks for all the info!

Well, I believe it was invented at Pizzeria Uno at Ohio and Wabash. This Uno's is different than the rest of the chain. Also good is it's sister, Pizzeria Due, down the street. Any of the Giordano's are good, so is Lou Malnati's.
