I liked it

was there in June for 3 nights - I thought it was very nice. The staff were particulary attentive and helpful, and the breakfast buffet on the 2nd floor was superb (as a Gold, they gave me three coupons per day - was with my wife and daughter).

The cake buffet in the lobby is a weird scene! Throngs of late teens early 20s Japanese youth STUFFING themselves with cake and gossiping and checking their cell phones every 15 seconds.

Must say was treated much better at this hotel than the Narita property.
I really think the treatment is racially motivated.

Hilton Nagoya report 5/2007 nice

As stated before this Hotel does not get much FT attention so it merits a thread from me.

Preface: In Japan for one week solid. This evening we will meet two girls we hosted a couple years back and tomorrow monring we will meet one of my wifes former associates.

Status: Diamond.

Rate: Prepaid 15000 yen which includes breakfast. FYI. We asked about the breakfast since it has not been mentioned and was told it was on the Executive floor. Asked more and got vouchers for buffet on 2.

Transportation: We came in from Osaka on the Shinkansen. Upon exiting the tracks head towards Takashimaya department store. Take a small cab to the Hotel. It is only a flag drop of 590 yen. We walked back to the station which took about 15 minutes. A leisurely walk.

Parking: n/a

Check-in: We were immediately escorted up to the Executive Lounge on 26. Upgraded off our prepaid rate. A very efficient process.

Perks: Upgrade as noted above. A nice bag of cookies, piece of fruit and candy in our room upon arrival.

Lounge: The Lounge here is a small affair compared to Osaka. You will have to rachet down your expectations after Osaka. The staff as in Osaka is pleasant.

Room: You enter onto carpet. The bathroom is to the right followed by a king size bed with night stands on each side. This is followed by a small sofa with table. We have a large window facing away from the station which has the shoji screen panels for light and privacy. This is followed by a desk facing out towards the window. You have a cheapy tv in a cabinet followed by a place for luggage. Next you have a closet and mini bar set-up. A fairly common room by any standard. Think ten years ago. OK. How about fifteen.

Bathroom: Is a single basin standard with tub/shower combo. Ok amenity selection which is better than Osaka.

Internet: Wired in room and complimentary on the Executive floors.

Gym: have not tried

Spa: have not tried

Eating venues: have not tried

Local markets: You can find anything outside the Hotel in the immediate area.

Local area: Above. Not much in terms of tourist stuff. Money and electricity museums nearby. We did find a good ramen shop. Upon exiting the Hotel break left then right onto the main street. Walk less than five minutes and you will see a red canopy with black writing on it. The menu has pictures so easy to order.

Nagatives: None.

Closing: A nice place. I've tried the Westin and Marriott. The Hotel is nicely located and the main street has tons of venues around. Especially for eating. I prefer this location the best of the three. Unfortunately the rate is not that low. Would return. Regards from Nagoya. Heading to Kyoto tomorrow.

You are welcome. Off to the breakfast buffet on two. The dessert buffet at 3 PM was minimal compared to Osaka. The evening event was the same. We did get a envelope with two vouchers later in the afternoon for breakfast.

Are Gold VIP members still well treated there nowadays ?

Any recent experience with regards to upgrades / lounge access ?

Thanks,
Yann

Well more recently than 2006 dates and perhaps not quite relevant to your circumstance we stayed here in April and was given a decent upper floor room but I cannot recall if on the Executive floor.
Hotel is ok ... a bit dated.

Got lounge access however and found both the lounge ofeig quite good and lounge staff very helpful and courteous. BTW I am HH Diamond.

August experience was good. Upgrade to exec floor (am diamond) on points. Nice room, some of the detail has gone now, but from memory bathroom was OK but older style. Very helpful staff.

Just about to check out after spending 2 nights here. It's a holiday weekend and the hotel is busy but I (Gold) was given a room on one of the executive floors.

Went to the lounge both evenings for a drink & snacks. While I wouldn't call the food spread dinner, there was enough variety that one could eat enough to be too full for dinner elsewhere. Nuts, chips, cheese, crackers, veggies, chicken wings, spring rolls, sushi and other small Japanese dishes, desserts, etc. The lounge was just about full both times, but not crowded or noisy, and I found an empty table.

The lounge offered breakfast as well, but I ate in the Terraces restaurant both mornings since that was offered as an option and the lounge staff told me it there was a wider selection downstairs.

Afternoon tea is offered in the lounge but I skipped that.

The room was nice and I found the bed quite comfortable. Plenty of closet and other storage space, safe, 32" LCD TV, minibar, etc. The bathroom is of an older design but in great shape.

The staff here is great, even by Japanese standards. Every encounter was pleasant, I was made to feel very welcome at the hotel, and my one or two requests for help (ATM location, sightseeing tips) were taken care of in a quick and friendly manner. I'd definitely stay here again given the opportunity.

I was in the hotel last night. It's all Hilton standard, but a little long in the tooth. A renovation is in order. The huge radio in the bed table would be an example.

I'm not a gold member. While I'm not in the "Up In The Air" crowd, I get around quite a bit, mostly internationally.

That being said, I am always annoyed by Hilton's policy of charging for internet access. Especially when the Starbucks just across the street offers wi-fi for the price of a cup of coffee. It is most annoying.

But I did have a very comfortable night of predictable, high quality.

Hi folks,
Does anyone have some new updates to this hotel experience?
How easy is the experience of commuting from the NGO airport to the Hotel?
Thanks

Stayed there June of 2010. Combo of train and taxi will get you to the hotel, it isn't difficult just takes a little time IIRC.

Hotel is nice. Typical Japanese. Quiet, bit small, but rooms are clean, service in the lounge is excellent (lounge is small, but food selection good).
