Mount Wolseley Hilton, Carlow {IRL} (no longer Honors)

A new Hilton, and even trickier to spell than that one in Rome. The press release mentions more properties to come in Ireland. I'm hoping at least one of those will be in Cork/Kerry.

1 June 2005

HILTON TAKES RESIDENCE AT MOUNT WOLSELEY

Hilton has taken over the operation of Mount Wolseley Hilton Hotel, Spa &
Country Club in County Carlow, Ireland. Hilton International's fifth Irish
hotel - and the first Hilton Worldwide Resort in the UK & Ireland - the property
features an 18-hole Golf course and an extensive Spa.

Wolfgang M. Neumann, Area President, Hilton UK & Ireland and Donal Morrissey,
Director, Mount Wolseley Hotel, Golf & Country Club Ltd., signed the contract in
a ceremony at the property on Tuesday 31 May 2005.

Speaking at the launch Wolfgang M. Neumann said: "Hilton is delighted to expand
our brand in Ireland with the Mount Wolseley Hilton Hotel, Spa & Country Club -
an exciting addition to the Hilton UK and Ireland portfolio. Hilton is looking
at numerous opportunities to further grow in Ireland, with an aim to have three
new properties in the region by 2008".

The four-star, 143-room, Mount Wolseley Hilton Hotel, Spa & Country Club is
located in Tullow, County Carlow, 40 miles from Dublin and employs 150 full-time
and 50 part-time staff. Set on the luxurious Wolseley Estate - the ancestral
home of Frederick York Wolseley who designed and built the first British car in
Birmingham in 1895 - the hotel is surrounded by a championship, 18-hole golf
course designed by Christy O'Connor Jnr. and voted as one of the top 25 courses
in Ireland.

Originally opened in August 1996, the hotel unveiled a ?22 million extension in
October 2004, with a further ?5 million having been recently spent on a holistic
spa. Known as The Sensory, the spa features seven treatment rooms, chill-out
pool, dry flotation, steam room, experience showers and sun therapy. The
Sensory will become part of the LivingWell Health Club, which also features a
swimming pool, gymnasium, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi.

Further facilities include the contemporary Frederick's Restaurant, the Aaron
Lounge and the Vintage Bar, as well as conference facilities for up to 750
delegates and a range of function rooms suitable for meetings or events for 20
to 350 delegates.

The estate also boasts sixteen holiday lodges, sleeping six and eight, which
will become part of the Hilton International Grand Vacations Company, which
currently operates four resorts in Scotland and Egypt, comprising 271
time-ownership units.

The hotel was previously operated by the Morrissey Family, who will retain
ownership of the Resort.

Mount Wolseley Hilton Ireland

First stay at MW Hilton, did not know I was Gold and I asked for room upgrade, and for comp fruit, chocs and water, got no problem, just told them I got this in Northern Ireland's Hiltons when I stayed. Very pleasant staff and wonderful surroundings. Good b&b midweek at £68.
