Hilton Honors announces new benefits for Diamonds

When i saw the headline, I thought finally--Diamonds will finally get some REAL benefits versus Gold. Like suite upgrades. Discounted award stays.

So what's the reality?

Hilton Worldwide announced that it is launching HHonors Diamond Elite Parking and Select-A-Snack, two new benefits for select loyalty program members at its Hampton-branded properties.

This is HUGE news.....

I guess. For those who earn Diamond status from Hampton stays, maybe.

So the OP thought Hilton's headline was a tease? There might be a guideline discouraging that...

Exclamation Depends on the hotel

Parking can be a big issue particularly in big cities and at Waldorf Hotels.

When I was staying at Hilton's, I was at hotels that did not charge for parking so it is a non issue for me though some people are going to benefit from this.

Now we need to push Marriott & Holiday Inn to match this!

For one, I can't find any mention online of this as a real benefit.

Second, the OP refers to Hampton Inn. I have to think a huge percentage of Hampton Inns worldwide already have free parking. I avoid all of these lower-end brands in big cities, but am a fan of Hampton when I'm roadtripping. Parking's already free.

Select-a-Snack sounds like a "meh" benefit. Hardly worth a press release. The comparable Marriotts (Fairfield, RI, SHS) already do this for Plats.

Is this old news? Haven't Hamptons been doing that for about 5 or 6 months. You get the choice of a toblerone bar, trail mix, gummi bears, and 2 other unimpressive snacks plus a vitamin water or regular water? And it's not for all diamonds just those who selected a snack rather than points.

I'd be more impressed if diamonds got all benefits. Points AND snack.

So how is this enforced? Do you have to put your card in the windshield? What if a DYKWIA gold parks there - will they downgrade his room?

I kinda can't wait to park my 97 Altima I'm one. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when some DYKWIA gold poops a brick about someone from housekeeping parking in his spot.

I don't think that it is. If you go to the link there is a statement about each property bring required to buy a minimum of 5 signs.
