London?

Is there a reason most London hotels have opted-out of this promotion? viz:

London DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London - West End
London DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London - Tower of London
London DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London - Westminster
London Hilton London Canary Wharf hotel
London Hilton London Docklands Riverside
London Hilton London Euston hotel
London Hilton London Green Park hotel
London Hilton London Hyde Park hotel
London Hilton London Islington hotel
London Hilton London Kensington hotel
London Hilton London Metropole hotel
London Hilton London Olympia hotel
London Hilton London Paddington hotel
London Hilton London Tower Bridge hotel
London London Hilton on Park Lane hotel
London London Syon Park, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel
London The Trafalgar London
London The Waldorf Hilton, London
London Hilton London Wembley

In fact the sheer size of the list of non-participating hotels for this promotion is staggering!

Hello.

What about stays booked a couple of days BEFORE the promotion started for
dates WITHIN the promotion period? Will this promotion apply?

Thanks!

This is addressed in the FAQ provided by the hyperlink in the OP's post and the promo enrollment.

What if I already have a reservation, is it eligible for the promotion?
Yes, as long as the member is registered for the promotion prior to check-out of the stay and the reservation is for an eligible stay. Regardless of when a reservation was booked, any nights within the Promotion Period will receive the promotion bonus.

Which rates are excluded?

Like on the current promo, there is only a link to the general accrual of points but not special rates like e.g. AAA, promo rates mentioned. Since not all rates qualify for the current promotion, I assume it is the same with this promotion but it would be more than helpful to name the excluded rates to avoid disappointment.

That's a rediculously long list of non-participating hotels. And I was going to stay in a Hilton in London just because of this promotion, and both hotels I wanted to stay at are listed. That sucks. And I'm going after the Olympics are over. That's bollocks!

Sounds like they are promoting this on the premise most people won't check to see if their hotel is listed.

I don't remember getting an email to confirm previous promos. This is great addition isn't?

Indeed.

Seems to me that, in addition to the already listed London hotels, any place that is conceivably a summer vacation spot is excluded. Quite disappointing.

I find it curious that Hilton enforces "brand standards" to such an extent that it drives hotels to offer the lowest common denominator of service, but then apparently allows the same hotels to opt-out at any time of customer-oriented and friendly promotions. Doesn't really seem to be a winning combination of service in favor of the customer...

Certainly it's the Olympics. Rates are already sky-high, and the Hotels having to pay out 2 to 3X points on the folio spend would be prohibitive.. Also a small thing called supply and demand

The Official Q3 Hilton HHonors Promotion - FAQ

I'm working in the Frisco/Plano Texas area....this is the second promo that multiple brands in that region opted out (homewood, gardeninn)...and as far as i know there is no Olympics in Texas....so I've taken my business elsewhere and will continue to do so until they start resolving this...

Btw...does anyone actually know how much the individual properties have to pay each time they opt in to one of these promotions

This is all I've ever found:

Frequent
Traveler/Guest
Reward Program

From the date your hotel
begins to participate in
HHonors, your hotel will
be charged on the same
basis as other System
hotels. Currently, you may
choose between the
following pricing options:
(1) fixed pricing per night
and maximum fee per
stay based on ADR, or (2
4.7% of total eligible guest
folio with a maximum
charge per stay of $110.
In addition, your hotel will
be responsible for other
charges as specified.
