Best Property in US or Caribbean to Redeem Points?

I'd like to get everyone's opinion on the best property in the US or Caribbean to redeem points for a week long stay. We are not set on it being a beach locale, but that is always a plus. We definitely want to get the most from our points and will likely only be Gold at the time, so places that give free breakfast to Gold would be a plus. Also, not so much looking for a resort away from everywhere as we tend to get out and explore the local attractions and hunt out good local restaurants. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Another consideration would be a Waldorf property as well...Thanks!

Sorry, posted before my morning coffee. I should preface this by saying this is just my wife and I, no family or kid-friendly activities needed. I guess we don't have one location in mind, but some places that have come up are maybe somewhere in California, Colorado (or other scenic Western states) or Florida. We go to the beach a couple times a year as it is, so the location doesn't necessarily have to be around a beach. We're just looking for a location with a nice property, good restaurants off-site and places to visit (zoos, museums, hiking, local shops, etc). I know, it is a broad question, but we are just looking for a fun, romantic getaway for 2 where we make the most of our points, yet stay in the US or Caribbean. I am aware of the best international hotels, but that is not on our radar quite yet. Also, we went to Costa Rica last year, which I would highly recommend, so I would pass on that again this year.

This is too broad a question for me to offer any helpful advice. Consider narrowing down your considerations.

San Diego Gas Lamp Quarter. Funky boutique hotel, loads of eating/drinking options within walking distance, world class zoo and Seaworld, day trip option to Tijuana, plenty of nature within 1 hour drive.

You should plan around large conventions as everything fills up.

You won't get free BK as a Gold HH at WA properties, so that might narrow down your options a little.

Thanks for the links...I was aware of some of those, but some threads I had not seen.

San Diego, specifically the Gas Lamp has been near the top of our list. Thanks for re-affirming!
