Moved to HHonors section because the offers will (apparently) not be relevant to Membership Rewards. I am not persuaded there is any benefit to pre-announcing an offer with no substantive detail, but defer to the HHonors moderators who can leave or close the thread.

I was thinking of cancelling, trying to build up my AA miles; this is great news. Maybe this is why they are doing it, I would imagine a decent number of us have switched our spending to Advantage cards.

I still put the 6 HH points per $ merchants to Surpass.
Both programs are not looking so hot right now in terms of the value of their respective currencies (no Diamond Force for normal rates on HH; reduced availability of international J/F awards on AA.)

Great! Looking forward to getting more information come October 1st.
Some may remember, HHonnors AMEX used to give 5 points for restaurants (3 was standard and 5 was the max), and then when they went to 3pt/6pt structure, restaurant merchants were dropped from that group. So it makes sense to bring them back in and created this "added benefit".

And if it does prove true, I wonder whether this could partly be to cushion the blow of the changes coming to the HH program. Or am I mixing apples and oranges here?

Terms of the promotion? I don't buy that I can just click something and get 25,000 HH points because Amex likes me.
