On a similar note, when was the last time anyone saw an Altima Hybrid or Camry Hybrid on a Hertz lot? The last model year of the Altima Hybrid was 2011 and some were spotted last year; Toyota still produces a Camry Hybrid. I'm asking because they used to carry the F4 designation, so perhaps the code is being reassigned if these vehicles have been fully phased out.

Agree it's not the most comfortable seat (but have had worse) and awful steering wheel.I got mine on an F award so that was an "upgrade" in that I didn't have to use more points to get it. Getting one on an A rental would be fine by me.

Iīm from Brazil and new here ! As a gift for my 40 years birth we gonna make a road trip (me, wife and 13 yrs daughter), this way:
Arrived at JFK on 6th december, get the Amtrak to Baltimore were I book the car to road, after 1 night in Baltimore:
- Charlotte - rest
- Atlanta
- Savannah
- Charleston
- Wilmington
- Williamsburg
- DC
- Philly
- NY - were I drop off the car.
First, I book a mid size suv (more $$$ and more $$$ to fuel), yesterday I get an excellent price on a ICAH green collection and read about the Prius and loved the car !!!
Any chance to get this model at Baltimore airport Hertz ?
And about the car ? Itīs better than a MID SUV or no ?

Just picked up a car for the weekend from the Sacramento Downtown HLE location. Booked a C, got a Dodge Dart, 18k miles. Was told it was full size, but definitely shows C on the key. Not a very clean car but I Didn't have too much time to complain. We'll see how it is driving around in it this weekend.

More likely to get a Prius, as they have more of these than the C-Max, though "more" is a relative term, as from what I have observed at PHX, they don't have every many.
I hope you know what you are getting......... Prius is very roomy, for sure, and around town it is economical, but if you fill it with people and drive it hard on the freeway, you will be disappointed at how thirsty it is! The combination of large body and relatively weedy engine means it has to work hard at freeway/hill speeds and that will be reflected in poor consumption.

It really does depend on which attributes are most important to you. Although the Prius is a roomy car, there is no question that a mid sized SUV will have more space for people and luggage. But it will be far less economical. Though do note my warning above that the Prius is not always as parsimonious as you might thing once you get out of town.
There are loads and loads of Cruze on fleet, so if you book one, you can be pretty sure you will get one. Relatively, there are not many Prius (and even fewer C-Max Hybrid), though I am sure if you book one, they will to give you one as nothing else is really quite a substitute.
Unless outright fuel economy were the most important, though, I would not take the Prius. If there are several of you with luggage, I'd get the SUV.

An update to my previous post with the Dodge Dart.
Apparently in 2013 they still make cars without cruise control. Who knew! So driving the 3 hours or so down to Monterey was not particularly fun with a bum knee having to continually hold down the gas pedal, but not the worst thing in the world.
Ended up putting just under 500 miles on the car over the weekend. It was a decent car to drive, seemed to have a decent amount of power, though there were definitely times when it felt like it was lacking. The interior was very sparse, not much going on. The dash and steering wheel were a bit higher than I'm used to (though I had the seat all the way down as I like to be closer to the road). Brakes were fairly sensitive and seems to have a good amount of bite to them (is that a way to describe them?) Handling seemed to be pretty good as well. It felt nimble enough driving it around. Seemed to be fairly fuel efficient as well. Did about 140 miles on less than 4 gallons of gas on the highway so probably 35-40mpg.

You won't get an Altima Hybrid - the model has been obsolete for at least 2 years.

Prius is very roomy, for sure, and around town it is economical, but if you fill it with people and drive it hard on the freeway, you will be disappointed at how thirsty it is! The combination of large body and relatively weedy engine means it has to work hard at freeway/hill speeds and that will be reflected in poor consumption.

Unless outright fuel economy were the most important, though, I would not take the Prius. If there are several of you with luggage, I'd get the SUV.

I'd try to get the C-Max Hybrid if you could - lots of room, reasonable to drive (apparently more like a normal car than a Prius) and still likely to get close to 48 mpg. Actually getting one might be quite difficult though, although I did see two or three at LAX over the weekend.
Don't forget that the difference between 32 mpg and 48 mpg is just over 4c/mile at $4/gallon. So if you're doing 1,000 miles, it's about $42. That's not nothing but for most people it'd be more important to get a car that meets their needs than to save that much on fuel.
