San Jose Costa Rica Feb 06 2009 one day/night only what to do
I will be in San Jose CR for one day and night this Friday. What should I see/ do. I do drink and like the night life. I am staying at the Best Western downtown. It looks like there a a few Gay Bars walkable.
Any advice/reccomendations? I would like to site see in the city for the daylight hours then hit the nite life later.

San Jose is not the most exciting one night destination, but you could head downtown to the area by the Gran Hotel. Avenida Central has good shopping, and the Pre-Columbian museum under the plaza by the National THeater (teatro nacional) is worthwhile. For night time, I like the nightclub LaAvispa (the wasp), which has a good mix a nice locals and expats and tourists from US and Canada. Therre's Mall San Pedro, but that's just a typical mall. The Fiesta Casino is right by the airport (by the Hampton Inn), and can be a good place to waste time. San Jose has the crime typical of any large city, so I'd be careful if going out by yourself.
