Question male-escort ad in hotel room

I recently stayed at an upscale gay owned & operated hotel located in Sao Paulo. What I found next to my phone on my desk was an advertisement for a male international escort service. *******.com was the site they were advertising.. should I be offended? Is that bad business?

Would this ever happen in a Westin, Sheraton, Marriott or Hilton... NOT! But then again I selected this hotel because it was not all the above chains I just mentioned, plus the location was great, and I wanted to support a gay establishment...

I have to admit I did log on to check out the boys in Sao Paulo and back home too!! But that is as far as it went. REALLY!

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have any comments?

Yes, do let us know the hotel in question.

Personally I think that an obviously visible in room advertisement is a trifle tacky...

However, I was pleased when staying in the STANDARD hotel on Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, that 'alternative: adult films were available alongside the mainstream offerings you see globally; anyone seen this in any other non-gay owned/operated properties?

Park Hyatt in Los Angeles also has adult films with only male actors.

Many Hyatts do have the "alternative" films.

Most W hotels have alternative movies and some of the other Starwood hotels, depending on location.

I have come across pay-per-view gay erotica/porn. in many hotel chains including yesterday at The Marriott in Toronto. They offered a selection for private in room viewing.

What I am not so comfortable with is an escort service being advertised next to my phone in my hotel room.

Many have asked to name the hotel in question. I see that the website address of the site in question has been deleted by FT... For risk of the same happening I will not name the hotel...

Management probably thought it was more helpful than potentially offensive...I mean I can't believe how many hotels still stick a Bible in the drawer with no regard for how it would make someone from outside the Judeo-Christian tradition feel!

You will find your web address has been deleted not by the management, as such, but by the automated system which stops us posting profanities (which incidentally seems to include the word sni ggering whcih appears as s******ing if you type it fully...).

It was probably just a rather risque word. Obviously you should be cautious not to post anything containing pornographic images onto FT, as it is a family environment, but I still believe it would be of value to know the name of this hotel, so that FTers can make their own mind as to whether to avoid of frequent this establishment.

Could you give us a more thorough trip report, as there are few for that part of the world? Thanks

i just got back from a european trip ... all hotels that had porn had gay porn... paris, luxembourg, haarlem, and amsterdam... i didn't stay at any chain hotels, though... the amsterdam had free straight porn on always, too...which was sort of odd.

That is incorrect.
One of the moderators of this forum (who I can quite confidently say is not automated ) deleted the reference to the website. If you see the edit on post #1 you will see:

Oh, come on! I want the website adress of a hotel not an escort agency. Is that considered offensive?

Aha! I stand corrected on that point.

I think my s******ing word does, however, get automatically censored because it contains the word n igger.

The censors are, however, easy to get around!!

I do of course support the mods decision to remove an escort site in order to preserve the 'family' atmosphere here on FT!
