Harrah's: Is Platinum worth anything?
I hit Platinum level yesterday and am wondering if it does anything for me except get me into shorter lines.
The website is not much help with this.

In Vegas it is great, you have special VIP checkin at both the hotels and buffets. I have found the the Platnum offers are often better than that of Diamond; being that your theo is better/higher on a daily average. Most Diamond visit Harrah's often, thus they have a much less daily theo average. Plus, once you get to Diamond your offeres are less bacause of the cost of the "new benefits" you get.
A high level Platnum is the best, place to be a Harrah's; very good offers and some great time savings in Vegas.

Generally with the Total Rewards program, the status levels are not really indicative of anything in terms of treatment / benefits. There are some stated benefits (line privileges, discounts at retail stores, etc.) that do come with each level, but really you could be a gold with a high Theoretical Daily Loss and be swanned over or a Diamond with a low one and receive crappy offers and no comps.
The general rule of thumb is higher levels of play in each trip will net you more than more trips with less at each.

The real benefits (lounges, club entry, cutting cab line, etc.) start at diamond but offers are not better as a diamond v/s platinum and are rather based on play. But platinums do get free parking in AC and separate check-in lines, which is beneficial.

Also, some promotions in the outer markets are either only for Platinum and higher (Reno, for example, has multiplier days for slots and table games) or are higher for higher tier cards (Rincon, for example, has higher multipliers the higher level you are, which until they recently downgraded pay tables, actually made playing Jacks or Better slightly positive on EV).

it goes to your adt.....
If you play 2 times a year and say a max of 3 days at a time, that isnt bad IMO
if you gamble 10 times a year for say 2 days and are plat well your offers will probably suffer....
Just IMO for that...

This year I have gone to LAS two times, spending a week there each time. I played just enough to make Platinum. I will be going back for one more week and will probably play just about the same. What does that mean -- do I get good offers or bad ones?

Its all about your time at the tables if thats what you play.....
Its better to have a 8 hour session at 50 a hand than a 150 dollar session for 1 hour.......
make sense ?
I was in ACity this weekend and had 8 hours at showboat and got about 1400 for those 8 hours....

Platinum isn't completely worthless outside of Vegas. A lot of the popular indian reservation casinos require a Platinum rating to even book a room , and a lot of time they are comped as well. Harrah's Cherokee rarely releases rooms to the public, but if you are at least a Platinum rating you can book whatever you want online. Beyond that, the other folks hit the nail on the head.

From discussions on FT and elsewhere, many people do NOT like to play at Indian Casinos. The slots are type 2 (essentially you are playing against a pool of players--like Bingo), while Vegas and AC are type 3.
Some people, particularly table game players, have been "fleeced"--and your only recourse is to the "tribal council"--who do you think they will favor, YOU or the Casino?
Re: the subject of this thread, Platinum in AC get discounted (or free) parking, can ride the (free) shuttles between the 4 casinos--besides the posted benefits at Harrahs.com.

Not all Indian Casinos are class 2. Many are now class 3. Also, many, such as Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods operate essential as the casinos in AC and Vegas.
