Terrorist attack in Paris, 35 dead, 100 wounded. Borders to be closed

Just woke up to this:

http://news.nationalpost.com/news/sh...al-dead-police

Police put the number of known dead between 35 and 40

A hostage taking is reported at a Paris music hall where up to 100 may be held

Shootings have left many dead at a pair of Paris restaurants

Several explosions were heard at a Paris stadium hosting a soccer match

There are reports of attacks at several other locations in Paris

It is not yet known who is behind the attacks

Francois Hollande has ordered France’s borders closed in response to the attacks

I'm seeing this in many news sites, but what does it actually mean?

Flights to, from and over France appear to be operating normally. I can't tell if Eurotunnel is closed, but are they really going to dispatch statff to the entire length of land borders and stop people driving into France?

Attacks/incidents on going, and it's tragically not over yet.

I was supposed to internationally transit CDG tomorrow and it seems like more European countries are now being told to consider "closing the borders" too.

I'm assuming flights will be still landing in and taking off from France tomorrow, but we'll see.

Closing borders... I understand it, but the more European nations close their borders, the more it seems like the bad guys win. The paralysis of worldwide traffic caused by likely a handful of bad guys is frightening to consider.

My thoughts are prayers are with the nation of France, and all other innocents who suffer at the hands of ideologically-driven murderers.

Suggest header change. Watching the news. My thoughts and prayers are with all in Paris. May this backfire on IS and may the world stand together and take them down!!

This is what I've feared for years. Not a single huge event but multiple coordinated events at the same time. True terror. I'm very worried.

And the local know-nothing reporters are saying ORD-CDG cancelled while UA shows on schedule, departing in 5 minutes.

O Lord. Huge numbers killed in the theatre. Just in.

With such tragically high numbers of dead in just from the American metal concert there, there are probably a lot of injuries with some in serious enough condition to drive up the fatality counts.

@:-) Perhaps we could use a non-restricted forum to post updates on flight/travel disruption information?

(and, should a wiki/FT banner be created for this...?)
