Self-service bag drop at Helsinki and Oulu
Copied from AY:
"Together with Finavia, Finnair has introduced bag drops for departing passengers at Helsinki Airport and at Oulu Airport. With the help of self-service bag drop machine customers can tag and drop their bags themselves. The bag drop machine is easy to use, and the staff is always nearby and ready to assist if needed. Passengers in need of personal assistance can still drop their baggage at the Bag Drop counter.
Self-service Bag Drop in a nutshell 1. Check in online or with your mobile device. 2. Print bag tag at the self-service kiosk; attach it to your bag. 3. Go to the self-service Bag Drop. 4. Place the tagged bag on the belt. 5. Scan your boarding pass. 6. Scan the bag tag using the hand held scanner. The bag is now ready to go.

Didn't SAS have something similar over a decade ago at CPH (I have not flown SAS in years so not sure on the handling).
I know that EI also did something similar at DUB before the new terminal was in place but not sure what happened to it as I only used it once.
Tbh, I'm not sure what value this brings... Is it to shorten the queues at check in?
My own experience (the EI DUB one) was not very good, as the weighing of the bag brought massive problems. 0.5kg too much and the system would not send off the bag. The one person looking out for the issues was busy with 5 others before me and delayed the rest of the ops.

QR has a print-your-own-bag-tags-at-home which is actually kind of cool as you can prepare everything before going to airport.

LH had these in MUC ever since T2 opened in 2003. Now they have them in FRA since spring. Saves a ton of staff.
