Barge Cruises in French Wine Country

Looking for some information/experiences/feedback/recommendations - considering a week long river barge cruise in France.

Like, say, late-March, early April 2007?

I just returned from a barge cruise on the Briare Canal in the Upper Loire aboard the eight passenger La Renaissance. As a poster above said, best holiday of my life. The outfit is called European Waterways. We had nary a drop of rain from June 15 thru 21 -- spectacular weather.

Have booked another for July 2015 aboard Amayllis (a Belmond barge) for the Grand Cru cruise in Burgundy.

If you are able, opt for the Ultra-deluxe barge category.

I live in Burgundy near the Saone. I've met the local Barge owner, who is English, and he seems a good chap. The tourists whom I've met from the barge seem to be happy. Especially over this weekend with the fireworks and all.

We did one with another couple last week of sept. 2014. As stated above, best vacation we ever had. It was so good we just booked another one on the Mosel river for fall of 2015.

Here is the link to the burgundy barge:
