Istanbul for a week, European or Asian side?

The title pretty much asks the question.

Thank you.

It's a bit like going to New York and asking if you should stay in Manhattan or Queens

Thank you.

My apologies. I should have been more specific.

Yes of course we will visit both sides, I was wondering which side is best for hotel.

Europe. Sultanahmet is where most of the best tourist attractions are. Taksim is convenient to more nightlife options.

I enjoyed staying at Doubletree by Hilton in Moda. Getting there was the best bit. Took a short taxi ride to ferry and ferry straight to Moda. Hotel was then a 5 min walk. Great area to hang out in the evenings. Easy to get ferry to tourist places on the European side and you avoid traffic.

i have stayed many times in IST on both sides but this remains my preference.

The Moda is a nice property. But wholly depends on what you plan to do since obviously most of the attractions and many more lodging are on the European side, especially the higher end like GH and PH

Which side? Of course it's too late now, but you could have also decided for between Asia and Europe, on one of the Prince Islands.
