Prague - Restaurant/Bar recommendations
I'll be in Prague in June for 3 days at the start of a river cruise. Staying at the Hilton Olde Town. Any recommendations for good restaurants nearby. Also any good bars?

I strongly recommend the Cafe Hybernia and Potrefená husa Hybernská. Both are very close to the Hilton, on Hyberska a block south of the Hilton.
The Cafe Hybernia has a bar open front with at the table beer taps with meters. Pour you own and the meter keeps track! Great food. The skewers are impressive looking and a lot of food. The Potrefena is a bar upstairs and restaurant downstairs as I recall. Excellent food.
We ended up going to both of them twice.

These recommendations assume you are not vegetarians. They are primarily restaurants where you can keep on drinking beer. I will let others fill you in on the best place for a mojito, if that is what you desire.
Krcma – Kostečná 4 just off Parizska St, the high end shopping mecca of Prague which is just off Old Town Square. 500 year old restaurant built into the walls underground. Food is good, beer is good, service is good. Price is excellent given all the goods. http://www.krcma.cz/
Bredovsky Dvur - Politických vězňů 935/13 less than 10 minutes from Hilton Old Town heading in the direction of Wenceslas Square.

U Tri Ruzi - Husova 232, a little confusing to get to but it is a nice taste of Czech cuisine. Their beer tends to be heavier than Pilsener Urquell but it is very tasty. http://www.u3r.cz/en/ Far more restaurant than bar.
Cestr – between State opera and National Museum – beef and beer but they do it right. If there is a show at the opera, reservations are absolutely mandatory. Pricey but excellent beef. http://cestr.ambi.cz/en/#index A real restaurant.
Pivnice U Rudolfina at Křižovnická 60/10, go downstairs. When your beer is empty, they will fill it, no need to ask. Food is decent, not great. Just on the other side of Old Town from you toward the Castle. And if you want to drink, stay upstairs just inside the door and you will be wall to wall with 100 of your best friends, lots of tourists and lots of locals. No website that I know of https://plus.google.com/111688067255...67255095298163
And one for tourists
Grosseto Marina – Pizza and Italian dishes but also fish. Right on the Vlatva with a view of the castle and Charles Bridge. Prices are a bit higher than other places but not crazy given the view. They will try to upsell you with sparkling water, appetizers, etc and portions are medium sized at best but they are fine with you ordering a pizza and two beers and being on your way. http://www.grosseto.cz/en/marina/gallery Of course if you want to go the wine and fine dining route, you can drop a few crowns here. http://www.grosseto.cz/en/marina/contacts
And if you want to venture a bit further afield
Kulatak at Dejvicke. You’ll need to take the green line metro to get there (three stops from Staromestska) and it will be crowded but you certainly won’t feel like you are surrounded by tourists. Walk up the stairs when you get off the metro, not the escalator side, and head out the right exit and keep walking around the roundabout. http://www.kulatak.cz/

Getting a bottle of wine in Prague tends to be a bit pricier though (but still reasonable) where beer is cheaper than water and where per capita beer consumption is 150 litres per year, 50% more than runners up Austria, Germany, and Ireland, all at 100 litres per year.
For cocktails, someone else will have to give you recommendations. I have had late night mojitos and margaritas at several places and they were filled with well dressed 20-40 year olds all on the prowl (the 20 somethings being my kids age), and I know I came home one night with a Chapeau Rouge entrance stamp on my hand which got me a lot of strange looks and whispers at work the next day when it did not wash off easilty. Try Bugsys or Budhha Bar. To me, they are all the same. Yeah, I am an old codger.

When I last stayed at the Hilton Old Town (one of my very favorite hotels, by the way), I enjoyed dinner and beer at Lokal. It was a fairly short walk away, allowing me to easily stagger back to the hotel...

If you are in Prague on a Sunday, The Hilton Old Town has a very nice Sunday Brunch Buffet from 12-15 ( the Central European kind which has proper food and not breakfast items ).
I would also recommend Cestr; they have a 3 course menu (starter, roast and steak + potato sidedishes) for a very reasonable price.
