I haven't been to Croatia (maybe this year!), but I've had a Visa chip & signature card for a couple years now and have used it extensively in Europe.
It works just like the old non-chip credit card basically. The chip reader machine will accept it, but will still spit out a receipt requiring your signature.
I actually find it easier to use my bank card at a local bank/ATM and use cash more often, since smaller merchants sometimes get confused with the chip & signature.
Not sure if there's anything different about Croatia, but hope that helps a little.

Thanks. Like yours, my card has worked fine in western Europe (except for kiosks for train, etc.) but I've seen some cautions about presuming CC use in Croatia. (Even my old magnetic strip cards still work most places I try in western Europe, thank goodness--we have to wonder how long will that be the case!)

I have used mine as far east as Hungary, but to your point haven't used it in Croatia. It's actually a country I'm considering visiting soon, so I'm interested in any issues with cards as well.

I have used chip and signature throughout Croatia, Slovenia and even much of Serbia without problems. If remote areas and tiny shops sometimes they do not have card readers, so I always carry some cash, but I do that everywhere, just in case. A few times I have had to show the shopkeeper that I had to sign a paper for them, but it has never been a problem.
