Question about AMS Arrivals from USA

When arriving from the USA to AMS...

Does AMS separate arriving from departing passengers like in NRT?

Or does one arrive into the terminal in the non-Schengen area (like in MUC)?

I ask because, I was wondering if I might be able to spend a few hours airside upon arrival into AMS.

No separation for international arrivals from the USA. You can remain airside.

As said before, no problem to remain airside. However if AMS is your final destination and you have checked bags after a few hours they would have been delivered and taken off the carousel and taken to who know where...

It goes to a stored luggage facility. The lineup to get to the service counter and get your bags back can be horrendous unless you have status (in which case you are seated in a nice, private lounge).
