Double daily to JFK - EY press release

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will double its flights between Abu Dhabi and New York City, introducing a second daily service from Saturday, March 1, 2014.

Flight EY103 will depart Abu Dhabi International Airport at 1.45 am, arriving at New York’s John F Kennedy Airport at 7.45 am the same day, while the return flight, EY102, will leave New York at 11.35 am, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 9.20 am the next day.
Interesting remark:
Initially, the new flights will be operated by Etihad Airways using two tri-class Boeing 777-300ER aircraft leased from its strategic partner, India’s Jet Airways. From May 1, 2014, Jet Airways will operate these flights

JFK-AUH double daily, now this challenges the other two (EK & QR) even more with increased capacity and options for timing. Wonder if they'll calibrate fares too to be competitive and fill capacity.

Since India has been downgraded to CAT II by a recent safety audit by the US, 9W cannot start any new flights to the US. It now shows that EY will operate EY103/104 indefinitely as a result, as 9W cannot take over the route.

Can you please explain what 'it' is? Where are you seeing EY 103/100 now being operated by EY metal? I am booked to fly this flight in March and my booking has never mentioned anything about 9W aircraft. The only source that mentioned that this 2nd daily flight will be operated by 9W 77W is the etihad website itself.

I really want to fly EY F

I don't have the answer to your points, but 9W F doesn't look bad as well. See Lucky's blog post on the topic with pics

There are several news sources that state this, just check it out via google.

Also, pulling up the seat-map on ExpertFlyer verifies the seat arrangement is that of a 9W 77W.

With India being downgraded to CAT II, there is a reasonable chance that EY will use the 9W aircraft for another destination and use an EY aircraft for the 2nd JFK flight, this is assuming that the downgrade specifically affects the 9W aircraft.
